Congratulations to Vanessa Komen, Class of 2026 Arizona State University-Tempe. Vanessa graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy on the prelaw track. She accomplished this in only three years! What an amazing young woman. Vanessa is a CVFE Ulum having graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 2023.

Congratulations to Cedar Falls Class of 2026 graduate, Daniel Umemezie. Daniel is Iowa’s 2025-26 Student Poet Ambassador and was named the National Youth Poet Laureate—becoming the 10th student poet to receive this honor since the program's inception and the first Iowan to receive this national title. Daniel competed against three other regional finalists from around the nation for the title of National Youth Poet Laureate, the highest honor awarded to young poets in the U.S. Congrats to Daniel for having his voice being recognized on the national stage!
