Ready to be a hometown hero? Join this season's CERT program!

The link below has answers to all of your questions; class dates, study prerequisites, age requirements, and more.

Fairfax County will be hosting Hands-On Basic CERT training running every Thursday from 7 to 10 pm beginning February 12 and going until March 19 with a final exercise on March 28. Fairfax County CERT trains residents to safely help themselves, their families, and their neighbors during emergencies. In an emergency situation, first responders may be delayed, overwhelmed, or unable to reach local neighborhoods right away. CERT volunteers are trained to bridge that gap by providing lifesaving skills, basic medical aid, light search and rescue, and organized support until professional responders arrive. Did you know that Bull Run is one of the earliest free African American communities in Fairfax?

Historic Centreville Society is hosting family genealogist Chrystal Gaskins at the Centreville Library at noon, Saturday, December 13. Chrystal will discuss the freed African Americans families that purchased property in the Bull Run and Cub Run area, including the Harris, Gaskins and Robinson families freed by Robert Carter III in the 1791 Deed of Emancipation.

Light lunch refreshments will be served.

Bull Run was one of the earliest free African American communities in Fairfax. Join us this Saturday, December 13, at noon at the Centreville Regional Library (the conference room) to listen to family genealogist Chrystal Gaskins share the stories of her ancestors.
