Champaign County Children's Advocacy Center

Champaign County Children's Advocacy Center Champaign County CAC provides a safe space for abused children, supporting healing, justice, and prevention with community partners.

Together, we help children and families move forward with hope. The Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) is a community partnership collectively dedicated to a multidisciplinary approach of professionals pursuing the truth in child abuse investigations. Professionals from child welfare, law enforcement, prosecution, victim advocacy agencies, and the medical and mental health communities collaborate to

investigate cases of suspected sexual and serious physical abuse. The CAC is designed to be a welcoming, safe place for children to be heard while protected from further victimization.

A special thank you to all of our anonymous Toy Fairies! 🧸✨ Your generous gifts bring comfort, security, and smiles to the children served by the CAC.

Why do we provide stuffed animals? Because they help children feel safer and more at ease during a difficult time. These treasured companions often provide both emotional and physical comfort—and sometimes children love them so much that they bring them back for their second forensic interview. ❤️

Thank you for helping us make a challenging journey a little easier for the children we serve.

Many people ask, "Why does the CAC need stuffed animals?" 🧸

Research shows that stuffed animals can help children who have experienced trauma feel safer, lower anxiety, and provide a sense of comfort and security during stressful situations.

Psychologically, stuffed animals can serve as transitional objects that help children cope with fear, uncertainty, and emotional distress. For many children, they become an important part of the healing process.

See the article below. ⬇️

Studies have shown that teddy bears can help children cope with trauma.
