Helping Children Worldwide

Helping Children Worldwide Transforming communities by serving vulnerable children and families through education, health care and spiritual mentoring.
Helping Children Worldwide (HCW) is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that builds trusting relationships with mission sustaining partners and collaborates with international program partners to transform communities and tackle the greatest barriers to sustainable futures; poverty, disease, illiteracy and hopelessness. We partner with local leadership to strengthen communities in Sierra Leone, one of the poorest countries in the world, by supporting programs that provide vulnerable children and their families with opportunities for education, health care, and spiritual mentoring. Two of the programs HCW underwrites, the Child Rescue Centre (CRC) and Mercy Hospital are especially focused on education, family stability, maternal health, infant survival, and childhood nutrition. HCW provides financial underwriting, training, technical advice, long term and short term mission team support to Mercy Hospital and the CRC to provide life-changing care for thousands of children and their families.

Purpose of the webinar: Ebola, AIDS, and other outbreaks in the past have led to a rise in orphanages but history and research has shown us this is the least effective way to respond to a crisis like COVID-19. Tory Ruark will facilitate a conversation between global practitioners on how American Christians can do better in living out their biblical call to care for orphans and vulnerable children in the wake of COVID-19.

Our Story

Helping Children Worldwide is strengthening communities in Sierra Leone, one of the poorest countries in the world, by providing vulnerable children and their families with opportunities for education, health care, and spiritual mentoring. The programs at the Child Rescue Centre and Mercy Hospital are especially focused on education, family stability, maternal and infant mortality, and childhood malnutrition. By partnering with local government and child advocacy organizations in Sierra Leone, we help children and families achieve their wonderful, God-given potential. Join us today to transform lives and communities!

The Child Rescue Centre (CRC) supports nearly 600 vulnerable children and youth in Sierra Leone, one of the poorest countries in the world, by providing for their education, health care, and spiritual mentoring. Our programs help struggling families keep their children in school, so that they can become self-sufficient leaders in their communities and in their nation. For just $25 a month, you can help a child reach their awesome God-given potential.

Mercy Hospital’s mission is to improve infant, child, and maternal health by providing holistic, community-focused care. The hospital serves the second largest city in Sierra Leone with a trained and dedicated medical staff, a laboratory, and a fully stocked pharmacy, providing care to thousands of patients each year, regardless of ability to pay. Mercy’s reach extends beyond the hospital and into the surrounding villages through community-based clinics and education programs, including nutrition clinics, prenatal care, malaria testing and treatment, and confidential HIV/AIDS testing and counseling.

Good day to all, I hope you are well, well I will tell you; It happens that my son was recently born, who suffers from Infantile Spasms, seizures, which often affect my five-month-old son, and for his treatment he needs ACTH, daily ACTH injections are given for a period of weeks up to several months. The problem is that this drug is not approved by the FDA, which is why it has a very high cost of close to 300 thousand dollars per unit, and since for work reasons I went to live in Chile, it was even more expensive, currently I am unemployed Due to the social crisis that the country lived through because of the communist outbreak, we were making bingos to be able to pay for its treatment, even mortgaging our house, but even so it was not enough, in addition to that because of the COVID-19 we can no longer make bingos, the truth we are very desperate as a family, we do not know what to do, and that is why I request help from people from a country as great, noble and supportive as theirs, I hope they can contribute, any amount is very well received, everything It is well received, I will leave a link in paypal for those who want to help us and please spread the word. GOD BLESS YOU paypal.me/daniGUrru

Can someone tell me if the swing set and sliding board at the facility in Bo was made in Sierra Leone? Was it made from old bed frames? I would like a girl's school in Moyamba that I support to have playground equipment, but it needs to be "budget" friendly. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)
There is a baby here in kansas city, born with brain damage, his dad is trying everything to help him he has a go fund me set up, i dont know if your able to help even if you just share his story, I just felt like it was my moral duty to try to get anyone someone to help. Thank you for your time. Baby elgin was born emergency c-section at 34 weeks due to a placental abruption. He suffered a severe brain injury due to lack of oxygen during the birth. He was diagnosed with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy. There is a treatment called Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy that could help my son regenerate his brain tissue. Unfortunately it is not covered under insurance. So we are looking to raise funds to get him to his treatment in New Orleans, Louisiana as soon as possible. gf.me/u/kxpuzx KCTV5 News Coveragehttp://www.kctv5.com/story/38942507/kansas-city-family-counts-blessings-as-baby-turns-9-weeks-old
