The Volunteer Workforce Solutions (VWS) programs use SAFER recruitment and retention grants to study traditional recruiting methodologies as well as Geographic Information system (GIS) based methodologies. VWS provides marketing material, training, and support to participating departments to ensure the success of their recruitment and retention campaigns. www.everydayherova.org for Virginia

The IAFC's National VWS program seeks competitive proposals from mobile app development firms and consultants to create an iOS, iPadOS and Android app for mobile and tablets that will enable fire departments to create recruitment and retention plans. The 2021 #SafetyStandDown focuses on the importance of addressing all aspects of rehab - including cardiac, nutrition, exposure, mental health, hydration, and heat stress - to mitigate the physical and mental impacts of firefighting. #RebuildRehab
