Cub Run Stream Valley Park Volunteer Team

Cub Run Stream Valley Park Volunteer Team Our motto is Preserve, Share, Connect. See you on the trail friends! We are open to everyone interested in supporting Cub Run Steam Valley Park.

We strive to preserve the natural, historic, and cultural aspects of Cub Run Stream Valley Park, to share our experiences, and to connect with others throughout the community. Founded in May of 2017, we are a team of volunteers under the umbrella of the Fairfax County Park Authority. We are a group of active local citizens with the intent to create a stronger, more resilient, community focused aro

und the vibrant Cub Run Stream Valley Park. People who are consistently exposed to green spaces, live an active life style, and have a solid "face-to-face" social network, have less mental stress, are happier, healthier, and able to face the inevitable swings life will bring. Preserve - We strive to preserve the natural, historic, and cultural aspects of Cub Run Stream Valley Park. Partnering with HOAs surrounding the park, the group's intent is to find local Site Leads for their neighborhood who can then create self-organizing teams, which will then support the Cub Run Rec Center bi-yearly cleanups. Cub Run Stream Valley Park has significant historic and cultural sites such as Lanes Mill, the Unfinished Railroad bridge crossing, and the site of great turmoil during the Battle of Bull Run as the Union troops fled across Cub Run's bridge in panic. Share - The group wants to use this FB page and quarterly meetings at Cub Run Rec Center to share our experiences and educate others using images, videos, and storytelling. We also want to share the importance of watershed stewardship and inspire others to care about their environment. Connect - We want individuals to grow their networks in whatever ways they see as valuable. They can connect with other people who share the same love for an activity, say running. They can connect with nature and reap those benefits study after study extols. They could also connect with our local government and ensure Cub Run Stream Valley has a voice in the decision making process to ensure our children have a safe and clean place to explore in the future.

The PVT is going to have a meeting at the Cub Run Rec Center on September 21st at 6:45 PM outside on the picnic tables to the right of the facility. It will be a less formal affair than previous meetings and is meant to be more of a conversation where people can get updates about the park and surrounding community. FCPA doesn't mandate masks in outside settings when greater than 6 feet so we will work to ensure proper distancing. We hope to see you there!
