Vector Psychometric Group

Vector Psychometric Group Vector Psychometric Group is a psychometric consulting and software development company. VPG was founded in 2007 by Drs. R.J. Wirth and Michael C.

Edwards as a psychometric consulting company providing clients with the most up-to-data methods to meet their scale development, assessment, and general data analysis needs. In 2010, Dr. Li Cai formally joined the company as a third managing partner and, with his arrival, VPG was able to expand its mission to offer state-of-the-art IRT software (flexMIRT®) and a web-based electronic data capture a

nd adaptive testing platform (Adaptest®). VPG currently has a total of seven permanent members (our three managing partners, a lead developer, a senior psychometrician, a behavioral data scientist, and an administrative coordinator) as well as access to high-quality contractors in the fields of statistics/psychometrics, programming, and interface design when needed, all of whom have been rigorously vetted and hold advanced degrees in their fields of expertise. We serve academic, government, and corporate clients and has been an integral part of teams winning competitive government contracts. Our clients have access to cutting edge research in the science of measurement, but with a focus on choosing the best tool to solve the problem at hand. We pride ourselves on our ability to help our clients with practical applications of rigorous psychometric methods

Exclusive webinar for HLM subscription holders!!

Scientific Software International Inc. is pleased to continue our webinar series for our SSI Live™ subscription license holders. Our next event will again feature the developer of the HLM program, Professor Stephen Raudenbush. Professor Raudenbush will share his thoughts on inference for variance components in hierarchical linear models and demonstrate the new profile likelihood feature in HLM 8.2 just released.

Time: Monday, August 23 3:00 – 4:00 pm ET

To learn more about the webinar and to register: click here –

Variance components are of high interest in hierarchical linear models. We’d like to know, for example, how variable treatment effects are in a multi-site trial; how much children vary in their rates of learning; or how variable are effect sizes in a met-analysis. Moreover, inferences about other ...

flexMIRT® Virtual Short Course
July 13 from 11:00am – 6:30pm EDT

*Course registration includes complementary registration for IMPS 2020

flexMIRT® is an IRT software package for multilevel, multidimensional, and multiple group item response modeling. flexMIRT® Version 3.6 offers substantially upgraded statistical modeling capabilities, including new model fit indices, multidimensional models with non-normal latent densities, Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) estimation, crossed random effects, and improved diagnostic classification modeling. This full-day training session will introduce users to the flexMIRT® system and provide hands-on experience with the software. The workshop is intended for graduate students, researchers, and practitioners in educational, psychological, and clinical outcomes assessment fields interested in the application of modern psychometrics to help improve the precision and quality of measurement. Attendees will receive a free two-month trial version of flexMIRT. It is assumed that attendees are already familiar with the basic tenets of item response theory.

IMPS 2020 (virtual) registration is now open, with presenter registration deadlines in May.

If someone has COVID19 but is asymptomatic, how long are they infected/ how long are they infectious? Someone asked me this weekend and I had no idea. I'm not finding a ton out there but here is one early study.

Previous studies have showed clinical characteristics of patients with the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the evidence of person-to-person transmission. Limited data are available for asymptomatic infections. This study aims to present the clinical characteristics of 24 cases with asy...

Johnson & Johnson to begin human coronavirus vaccine testing by September. Our fingers are crossed for all of the companies working on a vaccine. If this one is found to be effective, it could available as early as next year.

The pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson said Monday it had identified a promising candidate vaccine for the coronavirus spreading around the globe and that it expects to begin human trials by September.

I thought this was a really interesting site and I wanted to share. There are currently 8 strains of SARS-CoV-2 (causes COVID-19). Decent data visualizations to watch the virus evolve as it spreads around the world.

We have great respect for the people who work so hard to find cures - fight so hard to make life better for so many and I don't know a single one that isn't truly dedicated to making people better....but its crap like this that gives the entire industry a bad name - "Lobbyists helped nix language in an $8.3 billion emergency spending bill that would have allowed the government to enact punitive measures against possible [COVID-19] vaccines that regulators deemed too expensive for public use, Politico reported." So much hard work gets tarnished or worse - ignored. We need to be better.

Vector Psychometric Group has acquired Scientific Software International, Inc.

• Vector Software Acquisition, a sole subsidiary of Vector Psychometric Group, acquired Scientific Software International, Inc. expanding Vector’s statistical software offerings

• Vector Psychometric Group’s software products have traditionally focused on item response theory and adaptive testing. The acquisition of Scientific Software International, Inc. strengthens Vector’s psychometric software market share and expands their portfolio to include structural equation modeling and hierarchical linear (mixed effects) modeling software packages

• The terms of the agreement were not made public.

Vector Psychometric Group, a leading provider of psychometric and data analytic solutions for clinical outcomes and educational and psychological assessment, has acquired Scientific Software International, Inc., a market-leader in statistical software for social, behavioral, and biostatistical sciences.

Scientific Software International, Inc. (SSI) has been developing, publishing, and distributing specialized statistical software products since 1971. SSI has been a driving force behind many widely used statistical software packages, which includes HLM® and SuperMix® for multilevel modeling; BILOG-MG®, PARSCALE®, and IRTPRO® for item response theory modeling; and LISREL®, the progenitor of structural equation modeling.

Jointly VPG and SSI provide nearly 60 years of statistical software development experience. This combined experience will allow the companies to expand their current software capabilities, rejuvenate existing products, and build on their long history of advancing the psychometric and behavioral analytic sciences through software.
