03 August Swiss National Day - mehr in unseren naechsten newsletter
12 Oktober Weinfahrt
16 November Swiss Society Annual Meeting
01 December Alemannia Weihnachtsfeier Cedar Wood Country Club
07 Dezember Samiclaus

Hello dear members and friends of the society of Alemannia,
After a successful Board meeting we are now again "on board" with some news, but first I want to go back to our Annual meeting this year. During this meeting and also in the newsletters it was mentioned and pointed out again at the Christmas party, that we are planning 4 events spread out over the year.
As every year, Alemannia is taking a break just like you when you go on vacation or holiday, because many of our members and friends are on vacation or holiday. But as mentioned above, after a successful Board meeting we are back with new ideas and events. Of course, and I would like to stress that we need all our members and friends to make these planned events successful. How may I help you ask. Put the dates in your calendar?

I would like to mention that we also have a page have also contains news. During our meeting we decided, that now every 6 weeks we will try to publish a newsletter to our friends and members. I would be so happy if I could get some input from you as to what you would like to see being covered, which than would make the newsletter so much more fun to read. Perhaps someone know that Mr. Smith or Mrs. Miller turns 20, 30, 40, 70, 80 or 90, pretty much any news that you think is interesting for our newsletter.

Our event Coordinator - Steven Potter - has reported a soccer match on September 29. If interest is voiced, we will give more information. Of course, no Bavaria or Borussia will play but who is to say we could not have a good time just watching soccer. We would also like to know whether perhaps someone is interested in a Brewery tour, with many new brewery openings everywhere at the moment we can choose from a large selection.

Another idea came from one of our board members, to take a scooter tour of Charlotte. Bernd Losskarn already offered his services as tour guide.
Furthermore, we thought of a “Tatort Abend” at the Peculiar Rabbit in Charlotte?

Christmas Party is set, December 1 in the Cedarwood Country Club. Perhaps you say it is a little too early, well, then we are the first to open the many Christmas celebrations in the Cedar Wood Country Club this time.

For now having brought to you our best ideas in this newsletter, what is left to do?
on the Board. What should be done now? Use the “reply” button and let us know what you are interested in., share this info with friends and family and let’s get the Alemannia together and have fun.

Here are the dates that we have so far for the events that will take place for sure:

03 August Swiss National Day - mehr in unseren naechsten newsletter
12 Oktober Weinfahrt
16 November Swiss Society Annual Meeting

Hello Friends and Members of Alemannia

I am a little late but I did not want to forget to wish you all a wonderful summer. I do hope that you all enjoy the weather and for some of us the days off from work.

I also wanted to give a shout out to our families in Europe and let them know that we definitely think of them with the recent changes in the weather. Hot temperatures are all over making it not easy to go about their daily lifes.

We will pick up activities in August with our friends from the Swiss Society and their National Holiday celebration on August 3rd.

If you are interested in getting our newsletter please inbox me with your e-mai and I wil gladly add you.

Helga Holmes
President

P.S. One of our sponsors is looking for a Quality Manager asap. Should you know of anyone that is interested to work for a American company with German background please inbox me.

A Trip to Linville Caverns

Despite the full schedule we'd then expect to be back in Charlotte by 8:00 p.m. Some light food and drinks will be provided in the bus and the bus is equipped with a restroom. A German newspaper, the "Pennsylvanischer Staatsbote" was the first to report and publish the Declaration of Independence. Signed in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776, the "Staatsbote" printed a German version on July 5.

Hello Everyone. We realize this is very short notice, but does anyone happen to know of a good German Oompah Band in the Charlotte area who would be willing to play at an event at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church from 6:00-8:00 p.m. this Saturday? One of our club members is asking and unfortunately all of our normal contacts don't appear to be available.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Hello Everyone,

We'll have some smaller events in between now and late October, but we're very pleased to announce that we've organized another Weinfahrt, or vineyard tour similar to year's past.

We've reserved a 54 person bus and are planning on meeting in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart on South Tryon Street around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 28th with a planned departure of 09:00 a.m. and probably won't return to Charlotte until 8:00/8:30 p.m.

On the way out, we're planning on offering some snacks and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages once a few details concerning the funding are finalized. During the trip we're going to be stopping in downtown Hendersonville, NC and will be visiting Burntshirt Vineyards, St. Paul's Mountain Vineyards and the newly opened, Appalachian Ridge Cidery (located across the street from St. Paul's Mountain Vineyards).

Participating in the trip costs $40 for club members and $45 for non-members. Included in the costs, are the bus ride, wine tastings at the two vineyards, and a tour of the production facility at Burntshirt. To register, please send checks to the Alemannia PO Box and please send an email to our club president and secretary at [email protected] and [email protected]. If you have any additional questions please feel free to message on this page or under the previously mentioned emails. Participants are expected to have an interest in the German language and or culture.

Hope to see you there!
