Stanly County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Threat at North Stanly High School

ALBEMARLE, NC — On September 1, 2026, the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office responded to North Stanly High School following reports of a threat of violence.
Upon arrival, deputies and investigators conducted a thorough assessment of the campus. No active threat or danger to students and staff was located.
Deputies immediately initiated an investigation to determine the origin of the report. Through the course of the investigation, investigators identified a juvenile as the source of the threat. The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking formal charges through the juvenile justice system.
Sheriff Jeff Crisco emphasized:

"Any act or threat made against a school in Stanly County will result in charges and the full prosecution of the law. The safety of our students, educators, and community remains our absolute highest priority, and we will exhaust all resources to hold individuals accountable for making threats."

The Stanly County Sheriff's Office encourages students, parents, and community members to report any suspicious activity or threats to law enforcement immediately.

Stanly County Sheriff’s Office Resolves Unsubstantiated Threats to Local Schools and Courthouse

STANLY COUNTY, NC — Today, the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office investigated reported bomb threats directed at local schools and the county courthouse. The sheriff's office quickly traced the source and identified the individual responsible.
Deputies confirmed the threats were completely false, and there was no danger to students, staff, county personnel, or the public at any time.
"The sheriff's office deputies moved quickly to verify the reports and ensure all locations were safe," said Sheriff Jeff Crisco.

2026 SRO Summer Camp

The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Crisco are proud to celebrate the Fifth Annual SRO Summer Camps, held throughout the month of June!

This year, we hosted three camps at Stanly County Schools—one week for rising 7th and 8th graders and two weeks for rising 6th graders. We saw another incredible increase in interest and participation, allowing us to work with nearly 150 students this summer!

A special thank-you to Stanly County Schools for allowing us to use their facilities and activity buses for our campers. We are also incredibly grateful for the continued support of our sponsors, community partners, and everyone who helps make these camps possible.

Our SRO Division works hard to engage with students, build positive relationships, and make a lasting impact in the lives of our youth. We are proud of the fun, meaningful experiences our campers had this summer!

We are already excited to begin planning for our Sixth Annual SRO Summer Camps in 2027! We can’t wait to see what next summer brings! ☀️💙

Sheriff Jeff Crisco Named First Vice President of the NC Sheriffs' Association

Sheriff Jeff Crisco has officially stepped into the role of First Vice President of the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association (NCSA).

This week, our Stanly County School Resource Officers participated in their annual Active Shooter Response Training.

Continuous, realistic training ensures our deputies remain prepared to respond quickly and effectively in the event of a critical incident. These scenarios reinforce teamwork, communication, and decision-making under pressure—all with one goal in mind: protecting the students, teachers, and staff of Stanly County.

While we hope these skills are never needed, we remain committed to being ready to respond when our community needs us most.

The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office was proud to be a part of Hometown Heroes Night this Saturday. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the men and women who serve and support our community each and every day.

We would like to thank everyone who came out to support the teams and extend our appreciation to the Uwharrie Wampus Cats for hosting such a fantastic event. Congratulations to our deputies on successful night and for being able to bring home the trophy again. We are grateful to have been part of this special community celebration.
