The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) CityLYNX Gold Line is the streetcar system that is being constructed in phases. Smith University to Sunnyside Ave at Hawthorne Ln. The first phase of Gold Line will be operating by 2015. Construction on Phase 2 is projected to begin in 2016.
