On Thursday, May 28, The Cheektowaga Bee honored all of their WNY Teen of the Week nominees for the 2025-2026 school year! Among these honorees was our very own Kassidy Gillingham, a compassionate, creative, responsible and intelligent young woman, who excels in the Arts, and is moving on to Buffalo State College for Art Education. Kassidy attended the event, which was held at the Lancaster Opera House, with her teachers, family and friends. We congratulate her on this honor, and wish her the best of luck in her future goals!

Under the incredible leadership of Mrs. Abramo, 22 Student Ambassadors grades 3-5 picked a project they were passionate about to support our community. This group felt strongly about supporting the Flyers Fresh Market and decided a food drive was the best way to help. We are so proud of our little Flyers and can't wait to share their kindness and generosity at the Flyers Fresh Market.

Student Services at the High School partnered with local programs to bring awareness and resources to our students for Mental Health Awareness Month. Programs included Kids Escaping Drugs, Horizons, Compassion Connection, Crisis Services, Mental Health Advocates, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Crunch Fitness, Cheektowaga Youth and Recreation, American Foundation for Su***de Prevention, Health Occupations Students of America Club, and The American Working Dog Therapy Dogs. A very extra special thank you to the PTO for donating gift cards to our students. 💜

This year, Maryvale’s Art Department, in collaboration with National Art Honor Society (NAHS) hosted its 3rd Annual Paint Night for students, staff and families in our Maryvale Community on Thursday, April 16th! Led by student artists, Brianna Domon and Kassidy Gillingham, our participants created two unique paintings designed to celebrate the arrival of spring in WNY. Artists of all ages and skill levels came to try their hand at a variety of painting techniques. We thank our NAHS members for leading this awesome event, and our participants for sharing their evening and talents with us!
