To our 2021 campers, families, and staff - Thank you from the bottom of my heart for another successful day camp season. This year was hard. Trying to deal with changes due to Covid; different field trips, not being able to take as many kiddos, less staff, and just never seeming to have enough time in a day made the days seem hard and exhausting. However, realizing that for some kiddos this was maybe the first almost back to normal thing they have been able to do in over a year and a half made it all worthwhile. Seeing the counselors feeling the love today as campers cried while they said goodbye, made it all worthwhile. Hearing parents say, “See you next year!” made it all worthwhile. We do this because we love the kids. I continue to do this because as a teacher and a mom I know how important these moments, these relationships are for the children and the staff. Thank you for to everyone who helped make the 2021 Alexander Summer Day Camps happen! I hope everyone has a great school year and we will see you again in 2022!
- Miss Amy

I know some of you have been anxiously awaiting this update. We are so happy to say we will be back for Summer 2021!

Camp Alexander will be in operation, unfortunately Camp Dartwood will not run this year. We will also be unable to offer the Youth In Training Program this summer.

We will be operating at a reduced capacity of campers and staff. Brochures are in the process of being mailed out, first to 2019 registrants who are Cheektowaga residents. Two weeks after the initial registration window, registration will then be open on a first come first serve basis.

Please use our page and [email protected] to reach us with questions or for more information.

Camp Update:
It is with a very heavy heart that I am sending this message. A decision has been made by the Town to cancel Day Camp for the 2020 season. I am extremely sorry for the disappointment and failure to provide for your children.

I am truly heartbroken and we will miss everyone very much this summer. Please express our apologies to your children.

Thank you for having confidence in our program and I hope to see everyone next summer.

All registrations will be withdrawn and for those who have made deposits or payments those will be refunded.

Stay well and safe,
Amy McMahon
Day Camp Director

UPDATE: We have been notified that Camp Dartwood will be cancelled for Summer 2020 and Day Camp will be held only at Alexander.

Also, at this time all registration for Alexander Day Camps is closed.

As stated previously, if you have already registered for Alexander you are all set.

05/21/2020

At this time we are being told that day camp will be able to run. There will, of course be changes, one of which is we will be accepting about half the numbers of campers as usual in order to accommodate for regulations due to COVID-19. Other changes will be communicated as we have more specific information.

Please note: As of 5/21/20 we are no longer accepting registrations at Camp Alexander for Youth In Training or boys grade 5 and up (A5 & A6). If you have already registered, you are all set.

Contact us at [email protected] with any questions.

05/18/2020

We thank you for your continued patience and support throughout this time of unknown certainty. We had hoped to get an update out to everyone sooner than now, however, there was not much to update as we waited for information about reopening and how we might do that.

Now with New York PAUSE extended and the decision to open businesses moves to a regional level, we continue to await guidance about what phase of reopening day camps fall and more specific health and safety guidelines that are required due to the pandemic. We are continuing to hold out hope to be able to hold day camp, but we also realize this is dependent on state and local governmental decisions.

We know that this doesn't answer any questions specifically enough, but that is all we have at this point .

We hope you and your families continue to remain safe and healthy!

Posted on behalf of a one of our staff -
Hello families! With schools closed right now, I would like to offer virtual tutoring to help keep kids engaged and focused on school work in a fun, educational, and interactive way. My experience includes being an occupational therapy student in grad school, an activity director and counselor for 8 years at Alexander day camp, after school program coordinator at the YMCA, and substitute teacher at Maryvale. If you are interested please email me at [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks,
Brian Wroblewski

My daughter, Miss Ashton, enjoyed her Summer working as a Y.I.T. at Alexander. She learned so much, and it was a great experience for her as she continues her high school studies and wanting to be a teacher. Thank you for letting her be able to spend the day yesterday with her family, and we enjoyed our time meeting some of her young friends she made! It was great to see them light up with a huge smile and run over to give her a big hug! Thank you, and I know she looks forward to returning next Summer!
