🚨 TRAFFIC HEADS-UP FOR TOMORROW! 🚨

Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

With the State Primary Election and the first day of school in Chelmsford both happening tomorrow, September 1st, expect some extra traffic throughout town, especially during the morning commute.

Give yourself some extra commuting time, slow down, and please be patient as everyone settles back into the school-year routine.

And remember — school zones and crosswalks will be busy, so stay alert and drive safely!

🍋 Another Lemonade Stop! 🚔

Officers DiPersio and D’Entremont found another great reason to pull over today — a lemonade stand on Westford Street!

They stopped by for a refreshing drink and had a chance to visit with a couple of Chelmsford’s young entrepreneurs. We’re always happy to support a local lemonade stand! 🍋

Officers Reedy and Cerulo made a refreshing stop on Galloway Road today after spotting a neighborhood lemonade stand 🥤

They couldn’t pass up the chance to grab a cold cup of lemonade and support some young entrepreneurs. Thanks for the great lemonade and hospitality — it definitely hit the spot! 🍋☀️

We love seeing our community out enjoying the final days of summer!

🚨 Outstanding Teamwork Leads to Life-Saving Response

During the overnight hours of August 25, at approximately 3:00 a.m., the Chelmsford 911 Communications Center received a call reporting an unresponsive male at a residence in town.

Officers from the midnight–8:00 a.m. shift were dispatched and arrived on scene within two minutes. Upon arrival, officers discovered the male was in cardiac arrest and immediately began high-quality CPR, utilizing our ZOLL Medical automated external defibrillator (AED).

The Chelmsford Fire Department arrived just minutes later, and the police and fire teams worked seamlessly together to provide critical, life-saving care. Before the patient was transported to an area hospital by Pridestar Trinity EMS, responders delivered NINE total shocks.

This was an incredible example of the importance of rapid response, high-quality CPR, early defibrillation, and outstanding cooperation among our emergency responders. We would be remiss to not credit the fast recognition of a critical emergency, and immediate dispatching by our 911 Chelmsford Public Safety Dispatchers.

Congratulations, ACO Matt DeCiero!

Today marks Animal Control Officer Matt DeCiero’s final day with the Chelmsford Police Department as he prepares to begin the next chapter of his career with the Shrewsbury Police Department.

Over the past year, Matt has been a dedicated member of our team, serving the communities of Chelmsford and Tyngsborough as an Animal Control Officer. Beyond his day-to-day responsibilities, Matt was always willing to step up, lend a hand, and assist wherever he was needed.

Chelmsford Fire Department would like to recognize the outstanding work of Firefighter Andrew Micu and Firefighter Justin Aubert on a cardiac arrest call this week. Dispatched to a Worthen Street residence for an unresponsive male, crews began immediate CPR and delivered multiple defibrillator shocks before paramedics arrived and assumed patient care. The patient was transported with vital signs restored and it has been reported to us that he is now awake and talking.

This outcome reflects the strength of our emergency response system and the teamwork it is built on. Thank you to Chelmsford Police Department, Pridestar Trinity EMS, and Lowell General Hospital - Paramedics for their supprt on scene, Lowell General Hospital for receiving and treating the patient, and Chelmsford Public Safety Dispatchers for coordinating the response. This is what a well trained team, working together under pressure, can accomplish for the citizens we serve.

R.A.D. (R**e Aggression Defense) is a nationally recognized self-defense program that emphasizes awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and physical defense techniques. This course is instructed by certified R.A.D. instructors with the Chelmsford Police Department.

Classes will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on September 15, September 22, September 29, and October 6. The first class will be held at the Chelmsford Police Department Community Room on 9/15. Remaining classes will be held at the Parker Middle School (75 Graniteville Road).

The first class will consist of required R.A.D. paperwork and an introductory PowerPoint presentation. The second and third classes will focus on hands-on instruction in R.A.D. techniques. The fourth class is an optional practical session in which participants may apply learned techniques in training scenarios with instructors wearing protective gear.

Enrollment is limited to 10 participants and will be offered to the first 10 eligible registrants. Ages 15+ only.
