Brandon and I would like to ask for some volunteers. This Saturday we will be bringing back to Bruin Rotational to WBHS. It will be 3 mats all in the main gym. We need some volunteers for Friday night set up (after the basketball game) BUT we really need volunteers for Saturday to help with door monitoring, table workers and hospitality room.
Door monitors 4- sit in a chair in the gym and check ppl who come in to make sure they have a stamp on their hand saying they paid.
Table workers 6-9 ppl- Keep score, time keeper and possibly 3rd to help with anklets, and running errands.
Hospitality workers 2-3 ppl- keep food stocked and area clean while checking to make sure its refs/coaches/and workers only getting fed.
VOLUNTEER WILL BE FED! If you are interested and can help out let us know by phone call/txt/reply to this message or send us a FB message to tell us what you can help with. Thank you.
The volunteer help is what makes this run smooth and boost the amount of profit for the team and we can not thank the volunteers enough!!!! Time will be Friday night 930 - set up complete (not many needed here)
Saturday 8am-4pm at the latest.

We want to send an invite out to our wrestlers and parents. Saturday Nov 14 (this weekend). from 10-noon we will have a special guest coming to work with the wrestlers for some extra time. Today we weightlifted and had some time to go to the wrestling room and reviewed the spladle!!! I'll post the video soon.

WB Wrestling followers Brandon and I are asking for some help. December 5 (Sat) 2015 we will be hosting the Bruin Rotational. It will be 6 teams wrestling a round robin dual event. In order for us to profit as much as possible we are going to need some help. The more volunteers the easier. First we will need 3 Chesapeake Police officers to volunteer their time. We will feed you as much as you can eat! If we cannot get any volunteer officers we will have to pay and the cost ISN'T cheap. The other position is a ticket person. We will feed you as well. We would need you to take tickets from 7:30am - roughly noon. The other positions we will need (pending on how many MS wrestlers we can get involved) is 9 table workers, again we will feed you. We ran this tournament when I coached in Suffolk at KFHS and the more volunteers we have makes a HUGE difference in our profit. If you are interested or know some officers who may want to volunteer PLEASE send us a message or reply back. I would like to avoid having the parents work because we want them to be able to see their child wrestle. IF you don't want to work but want to watch, please come support our guys and follow along in their journey. We all remember how amazing it was to wrestle in front of a packed gym and those memories stick with me like nothing else. Help us create those same memories for the next generation of wrestlers. It was the greatest experience in my life, let do the same for them. Thanks

This should be good. Max Askren is doing a good job as FPL match maker.
FPL V: Herbert Returns to Face The Truth

This should be good. Max Askren is doing a good job as FPL match maker.

World silver medalist, Olympian and 2x NCAA Champion Jake Herbert will be making his Flo Premier League debut at FPL 5 on March 17th, 2015. His opponent? Western Branch HS will be doing its annual winter sports banquet next Wednesday at 7pm. All wrestlers are invited to attend.
If you have not turned in your wrestling bag please do so to coach Hardy in his room so we can mark you off the list. If you do not return it there is a fee that will follow.

We are back from States early. The tournament was completely changed up at the last minute. The VHSL was worried about weather so they did first round eliminations with no wrestle backs until the semi finals only placing the top four instead of normal top six. So you lose your first and your out. Kendric lost his first match to the eventual champ, who was a HAMMER! But it was an amazing experience and great time for Brandon, Kendric, Perrin and myself. Excellent learning experience and great motivator.

ALSO: Shout out to some local guys Coach Ben from Hickory get the schools first ever STATE CHAMP, then the next weight adding a 2nd one! Also Motley from Oscar Smith getting the school 2nd ever state champ and barely missing out on another one!
Other 757 schools to get champs were First Colonial, Glouchester, Great Bridge on top of the Hickory, and Oscar Smith guys. Lets bring domination back to the 757! Good start
other finalist include Kempsville, and Salem.

STATE BOUND: Kendric Hurdle (Fr) 34-8 4th place in region. Going to States folks. First match will be Friday morning around 11:00.

Conference Results:

Kendric Hurdle 1st @ 106
Dane Sorenson 2nd @ 170
Jeremy Butler, Desean Harris 3rd
Sean Anton, Perrin Fay, Matt Shelburne, Connor Eply, Aiden Dunn 4th placers
Team - 4th place! Not bad for majority freshman and not a full line up!

VIDEO: Wrestling Post-Match vs. Minnesota

Watch/listen to Morgan and Matt speak. They beat top #5 ranked wrestlers and they never brag or trash talk. This is a team that focuses on what THEY did and what THEY can control and how THEY can/need/will get better. True examples of team players and real wrestlers.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The 10th-ranked Nittany Lion wrestling team (8-2, 4-2 Big Ten) won five matches in a tightly-contested dual match against No. 2 Minnesota (10-0, 6-0) inside a packed Rec Hall on Sunday afternoon. But a pair...

Long drive home late last night. But the team is back from Fairfax and did well in the 16 man round robin pool wrestling. We got 7 guaranteed matches and placed Kendric Hurdle 2nd, Sean (Vinny) Anton 3rd, Perrin Fay 8th, Chance Evans 6th. Back to practice tomorrow on a day off from school. @10:00am

Excellent opportunity this weekend for our wrestlers to get 9 matches in while we traveled up the eastern shore to Northampton HS. The Fred Diem Round Robin was excellent and ran smoothly (Thanks to Will Leland). Even our back ups got to wrestle quality matches and get the well needed mat time.

It was a tough night out at Grassfield last night and a lot of us ended up with our backs against the mat more than once. Here's a quote that seems appropriate for a night like that:

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." -- Michael Jordan

Congrats to the wrestlers who fought hard and wrestled well in the Toys 4 Tots invitational. Vinny dominated the quarterfinals and semifinals match. He lost a tough match to a very talented wrestler to place 2nd. Kendric rolled his way to an easy 3rd place finish. While Desean and Dane battled to take 8th. Congrats Bruins! Rest today as we get back at it tomorrow and Tuesday before a little Christmas break.

Awesome performance at the Mike Duman Toys 4 Tots Invitational from Sean Anton Waugh (a.k.a. Captain Vinny). Vinny's the only WBHS wrestler still standing in the winners bracket. He'll be fighting to make it to the championship round in a semi-final match against Suliman Pady from Phoebus High School this morning. θηρίο επάνω! (Beast it up, Vinny!).

And for all the other WB wrestlers that will be battling back for 3rd in the consolation rounds, remember (in the wise words of Hawkeye Coach Tom Brands), "It's you or the other guy. Win you live, lose you die."

Good work tonight by the Bruins wrestlers. Tough match against GB. GOOD comeback and beating on King's Fork. Friday and Saturday we travel to Nansemond River for the Toys for Tots.

Excellent weekend at Churchland....Kendric vs Vinny at 106 finals goes into OT! Mason misses going 1st 2nd 3rd for WB at 106 by one point!!! Studs at 106!!
Perrin Dominates for his 5th place
Chance rolls to a comfortable 3rd
Dane takes folks down with ease and improves on top for a STRONG 3rd place finish.
Deshawn gets his first medal as a WB wrestler with a 6th place finish
The team comes in 8th out of 14 with missing 4 weight classes...Not bad at all. NOW we rest for a day and hit the mats hard to put the Bulldogs on a leash Wednesday at WB!!!!

Tough fought matches tonight. They did not go our way but we know why and we will/can build from that. The building blocks for the future of WB are being put into place with upper class men leading the way and the young freshmen getting mat time early the stage is being set for a return to GLORY. Churchland tournament this Friday and Saturday.
