More to say in the days ahead but I’m proud of our campaign. I’m proud of the issues we fought on and for being a voice for all the Democrats who know we have to do better and deliver more. Primaries are very hard under the best of conditions. It’s never easy going against the grain. We fought a long, uphill battle right through to the very end. We won Cheshire by a huge margin and won Middlefield but came up too short in Meriden and Middletown. You win some. You lose some. I can’t say thank you enough to my family, all my old friends, new friends, colleagues, voters, supporters, volunteers and donors that made this run possible. I’m truly grateful. My heart is full and I’m still, as always, standing tall.

I’m running for the State Senate because we have to fix the broken systems. School funding. Property taxes. High energy costs. Health care. These are issues challenging towns and residents all across Connecticut. But I’m also running because it’s really, really important for Cheshire that we have more Cheshire-based voices in the legislature in Hartford. There’s a lot of good things happening in Cheshire. Farms and green space are being saved. Our two new elementary schools are about to open. Led by Ball & Socket Arts and other property owners on West Main Street, there’s tremendous potential for cultural and commercial growth in a part of Cheshire many of us hope will be our ‘town center’ one day. The long-awaited ‘north end’ has been developed with fantastic residential, retail and restaurant options. And let’s not forget the expansion of Bartlem Park and improvements to Mixville and all of our park spaces around town. We have so much to be proud of here and it shows. Cheshire is one of the fastest growing towns in CT and we have the eighth best school district (though I bet we may be moving up.) I’ve been working for Cheshire for over a decade now. I’ve served on Boards and Commissions, Planning & Zoning and the Town Council for the past seven years. I’ve loved every minute of it and I’m not done yet. Cheshire is in a great spot now but we also have many challenges ahead and several potential large budget items - a full-time, paid fire department, ongoing traffic and congestion, ongoing pressure to develop green space, school renovations, a ‘north end’ fire station and a major update to our waste water treatment plant (to name a few examples.) Our little town can’t do it all alone. We need more support from state resources and to get our fair share we need more Cheshire-based representation. I’d be honored to fight for you Cheshire. I promise I’ll make you proud. Please get out and vote Cheshire Dems!!

I’m a roadside stand/diner guy. So, one of the
many great things about campaigning across the 13th State Senate district is that Guida’s is literally at the crossroads of the district. I may have stopped in a few times over the past several months. Maybe. www.JimJinksCT.com

Out campaigning today with Connor from Wolcott High School. He attended a leadership conference at Cheshire High this spring. I was one of the many community leaders asked to attend and help talk with students about leadership. It was fun and I was glad I could be there.

Connor’s into politics. His future is bright. No doubt.

In Cheshire, we have a great shot at having not just one but two Cheshire-based legislators. Meaning twice as many voices fighting for Cheshire seniors, families and taxpayers…and we’ll need it in the years ahead. Liz and I have been working together for a long time, so I know we’ll be a great team for Cheshire and Connecticut in the legislature.

Cheshire Democrats - get out and vote! Stand Tall! Vote Jim Jinks!

The story of the mysterious, DC-based PAC spending to tip the scales in my race for the 13th State Senate district keeps getting murkier and murkier.

We have publicly funded elections in Connecticut for a reason. To level the playing field and so regular people (like me) can run for office and be truly accountable to the voters.

Given that the money trail may lead back to a person with close ties to a charter school group, now is a good time to remind everyone a big reason I'm running. To fully fund and support our PUBLIC schools.

Dark money and the corrosive effect of big, non-transparent funding schemes in campaigns has to stop and Democrats need to be united on this front. I'm a hard NO on dark money in politics.

Liam Brennan weighs in on the recent flood of PAC money into a west-side state rep race, and what it means for the Democratic Party.

09/08/2026

Tuesday, August 11th vote for real change rather than more of the same. Vote against 'dark money' and business as usual politics.

Fund our schools every year.
Cut property taxes for everyone.
Fight Trumpism every day.
