π βTwas the Night Before the First Day of School π
βTwas the night before school, and throughout West G, the buses stood ready, as ready could be.
The routes had been checked, every turn, every stop, every time, with hopes that tomorrow would run like clock work.
The drivers were home, getting ready for bed, while visions of yellow buses danced in their heads. Their alarms were all set for an early wake-up, with coffee on standby. β
The buses were fueled, and the radios checked, the routes had been driven, the details inspected. Melody thinking I sure hope I didnβt forget even the smallest of details.
StopFinder was ready, WayFinder too! The families prepared, yet some of are friends wished for summer to be longer.
Tomorrow, before most are starting their day, our director, dispatcher, mechanics, drivers and aides will already be well on their way.
Theyβll greet nervous students with smiles at the door and welcome back faces theyβve transported many times before.
There may be some hiccups there usually are, a missed turn, a late bus, a line of stopped cars.
A student may wonder, βIs this really my seat?β And someone will surely forget what stop time to meet. π
But through every challenge, remember this part:
What makes West G Transportation special is heart. β€οΈ
Because we're more than the buses that travel each road.
We're the people entrusted with a precious load.
Weβre often the first smile children see,
and the last one they see before being home with family.
So tonight, get some rest. Tomorrow we begin a new chapter. The best one yet!
A brand new school year and we're ready again.
Superintendent Dr. Nancy Benincasa still singing the theme to Welcome Back Kotter. You know, if you know.
To my drivers, my aides, my mechanics, and crew:
Thank you for everything youβre about to do. Drive safely. Be patient. Take care of each other. And remember that tomorrow, we're doing something that matters.
Hereβs to a safe, successful, and wonderful first day at West G! ππ€π
And to all a good nightβ¦
because those alarms are coming EARLY!π΄β°
