My name is Rudy Jimenez, and I would like to introduce myself. I have lived in Jackson Township with my family for the past 14 years. I have dedicated 38 years to public safety and currently serve as a Captain with the Chesterton Fire Department.
Why do I want to be your next Township Trustee? Our retiring Township Trustee has done an outstanding job over the past 48 years, and I would like to continue that legacy. I believe I am the best candidate for the position.
I have extensive experience using budgeting principles established by the State Board of Accounts. As a firefighter, I understand what is best for our community. With our township population continuing to grow, we need a clear plan moving forward to ensure the safety and protection of our residents.
Township government is the level of government closest to the people. The Trustee serves as the executive branch and is responsible for providing township assistance to those in need. This includes emergency rent and utility assistance, burial assistance, and food assistance.
The township is also responsible for providing fire protection. Jackson Township is served by the Liberty Township and Westville Volunteer Fire Departments. These firefighters provide critical services our community depends on. As your next Township Trustee, I will ensure they are properly funded so they can continue delivering the highest level of service.
In addition, the Township Trustee is responsible for maintaining the two township cemeteries, including landscaping, repairing damaged headstones, and maintaining fencing. I will ensure these cemeteries are cared for to the standard our community expects.
As your next Township Trustee, I will maintain a balanced budget and prioritize transparency. I plan to hold public meetings that can also be streamed from home so residents can stay informed and involved.
Thank you,
Rudy Jimenez for Jackson Township Trustee
