Congratulations to Jonathan Cox, winner of Morgnec Solar's Gateway public art competition! Cox's piece, Harvesting Light, was selected by committee and community vote.

Cox's work is inspired by the natural and cultural history of Kent County. The final sculpture will be made of corten steel, silicon bronze, and cast glass, brought together to represent the Chester River and the local landscape.

Large Face Fragment III (2007) by artist Susan Stamm Evans represents the lower portion of a human face with lips slightly ajar to emphasize the sense of small and taste.

You'll find this sculpture along with Around Man in Remembrance Park along Horsey Lane–a great place to enjoy a bit of solitude.

Around Man (1991) by artist Eva Drewett focuses on the spine, anatomic and literary. The sculpture resembles a curved human-like torso from one angle and an open book from another.

You'll find this sculpture along with Large Face Fragment III in Remembrance Park along Horsey Lane. Enjoy these sculptures and a view of the Chester River from the short walking path.

Reading Dog (2012) by artist Jay Lagemann welcomes patrons to our local library. This thin, floppy-eared dog stands on its hind legs and reads an open book.

To visit this well-read pup, head to the Kent County Public Library, Chestertown branch. Go to the entrance accessible from the parking lot off Calvert Street, and you won't be able to miss it when you head in to grab a book of your own.

The Ball and Red Arches (2011) by artist Adam C. Walls
features a highly polished silver ball sits on top the tallest of several curved red ribbons of steel.

You'll find this sculpture drawing your attention down Cross Street, just past Cannon Street and along the rail trail.

Strength of Community (2001) by artist Don Rambadt is a diamond-shaped, curved form with a circle. One bird sits inside the circle with three others sitting on top.

To see it yourself, go to Conley Park at the corner of Mill Street and Cannon Street.

Ancient Connection (1998) by artist Walter Bailey is an abstract human form carved from UK grown oak.

Stop by to see this sculpture on your next walk through downtown Chestertown. Just head to the pocket park on Cross Street (just between Welcome Home and Bespoke's new location).

Taking the Hill (2010) by artist Adam C. Walls features cartoon-like white and red tanks moving up a textured, curving, green hill, heading towards a cliff. You can find this and Walls' second piece in the collection, The Ball and Red Arches, on Wayne Thomas Gilchrist Trail—better known to locals as 'The Rail Trail.'

Take a trip down the trail to see this piece and many other favorites in the collection.

Freedom (2016) by Constance Elizabeth Swaniker is a steel-geared butterfly made of found bicycle parts. This brightly colored sculpture greets the children of Garnet Elementary every time they come to school.

Come see Freedom and make your way through the Good Seeds Garden while you're there!

Inchworm (for John Coltrane) (2000) by artist Lee Kelly is—as its name tells you—inspired by the John Coltrane's composition. Its swirling steel forms seem to mimic the muscular but fluid style of the great saxophonists's playing style.

You'll find this sculpture at the south end of the Gilchrest Rail Trail, in front of the old train cars and a stone's throw from many other great pieces of public art.
