Looking at someone’s intent isn’t enough. We have plenty of people who mean well with the training they do, but are still doing it wrong.

Blacked out masks, unrealistic conditions, unrealistic expectations, well-intentioned instructors still set students up for failure, regardless of what they meant to accomplish.

Mask up Mondays 🔥

I believe in masking up with gloves on, it was passed onto me when I was a rookie and it’s something I pass onto the new rookies as well.

My set up is below
Mask - I pre tighten all my straps and tape except my left one. The left one is the only one I have to pull and usually retape straps every month or as needed.
I tape the top 3 straps together so it’s less straps hanging or getting tucked out of my mask.

When the straps start fraying it’s time to order new ones.

Gloves- Vanguard MK1s have worked great for me
And I keep them on a strap on the front of my coat

The leather chin strap on my helmet the pull tab is on my left so that I keep everything I “pull” on my left side

I pull my mask thru my chin strap and on my left arm, it’s my preferred way but I’m working on kicking my helmet back as well.

There’s guys that mask up just as fast and mastered putting on their gloves fast and efficiently.

I don’t push masking up in the truck. I know there’s guys that do and have great reasons for it. I’m good with it as long as the reason is not that it takes you 2 minutes to mask up at the door because what else are we lacking if that’s the excuse.

This is what works for me, not the best way.
