Twin Springs Fruit Farm at the Village Center is changing to winter hours beginning this weekend. From now until March, the market in Friendship Heights will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You'll find it in the parking area, adjacent to the Village Center on Hills Plaza.

Come to the Village Center for a concert tonight at 7:00 p.m. to enjoy the music of Mpingo, a wonderful clarinet quartet that has been playing together for more than 15 years and performs at numerous local venues. Mpingo is a Swahili name for the black wood of the clarinet. The quartet is composed of Nancy Genovese, Christopher Hite, Robert Little and Steve Lawson. The event is free.

Artist Reception: A Seasonal Celebration of Sumi-e in the Friendship Gallery
The National Capital Area Chapter of the Sumi-e Society of America presents “Floating Leaves, Falling Snow: Paintings from the Southeast Asian Brush Painting Tradition” in the Friendship Gallery in late October and November. The exhibit runs from Monday, October 24 through Saturday, November 19.
Join us to meet the artists during a reception on Sunday, October 30, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Reminder: Join us for a fascinating view of the Chinese-American Museum through the eyes of its director David Uy during a multi-media presentation today at 2 p.m., at the Village Center.
Located in a historic building on Embassy Row, this unique museum is the first and largest of its kind in the nation’s capital dedicated to the history of Chinese in America, with an emphasis on cultural topics, achievements of past and contemporary Chinese American, racial and social issues.
Current exhibits including “Contemporary Calligraphy” and “China from China,” which examines porcelain and stories from Early American trade, and includes pieces from George and Martha Washington’s personal china collection.
Refreshments will be served and the talk is free.
Effective November 2, the Village will begin to provide express shuttle bus service on Wednesdays from 6:40 a.m. to 7:53 a.m.!

Inspired by Picasso's Guernica, artist Judy Benderson painted this beautiful 12 foot triptych Ukrainica, which will be on display in the Village Center auditorium through Saturday, Oct. 22. You can also see this piece of work during the "Ukraine Up Close" talk by Natalia Kormeluk and Mariana Poshyvailo, scheduled to be held on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Village Center.
