The Wyoming Law Enforcement Memorial Board is proud to announce a new partnership with the City of Cheyenne and Freedom Point Park.
Together, we are taking a significant step forward in honoring our Fallen Wyoming Law Enforcement Officers. Through this partnership, we will resume fundraising efforts to make our long-held vision a reality: the er****on of a permanent bronze memorial to stand as a lasting tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who gave their lives in service to our communities.
This memorial will serve not only as a place of remembrance and reflection, but also as a symbol of our collective gratitude and commitment to never forget the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice.
We look forward to the support of our community as we bring this tribute to life.
WHAT IS THE WYOMING LAW ENFORCEMENT MEMORIAL BOARD?
The Wyoming Law Enforcement Memorial Board was initiated in 2011 by a combined effort of several Cheyenne area law enforcement agencies with the initial intent to have a community
event to recognize our Wyoming Fallen Law Enforcement Officers and acknowledge their families. The board evolved with the primary purpose being to permanently recognize and to honor all of the Wyoming Fallen and their families with a bronze statue memorial. An artist was researched with Wyoming ties, as well as, a Wyoming founder sought out to cast the sculpture. Tom White was our project’s selected artist and “Eagle Bronze, Inc.” in Lander, Wyoming was the chosen foundry. After a number of meetings with the artist and the foundry owner, a design was proposed and a clay rendition was created, which was later created into a bronze maquette due to a sizeable personal donation to the project. The ideas for the bronze were to have both a personal and honoring impact with a Wyoming theme. The proposal also includes that all the names of our fallen are engraved on the granite base below the bronze sculpture. Currently the board has evolved and moved forward with the forming of a tax exempt, 501(c)(3), “Wyoming Law Enforcement Memorial, Inc.” in August of 2018. This charitable board, has been soliciting donations, sponsorships, and grants to move forward with the completion of the project. The entire project upon completion will cost approximately $245,000 and will be constructed at The City of Cheyenne Freedom Point Park.
Even after the unveiling and dedication of this commemorative statue, it has been proposed, if financially possible, that the charity will be continued for perpetuity. Its new purpose would be to have
funds available and in place to assist the spouses and families of Wyoming’s Fallen Officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for all of Wyoming’s citizens. Over 60 Wyoming Peace Officers have been lost in the line of duty….but the mission of our Board is to
insure that ….none of them will be forgotten. Currently, this project has been endorsed by the Wyoming Fraternal Order of Police, the Wyoming Highway Patrol Association, The Wyoming Peace
Officers Association, and the Wyoming Game Warden’s Association.
We have two bronze maquettes for public viewing, one at Jonah Bank of Wyoming 2015 Central Ave in Cheyenne, and one at the Wyoming Bank and Trust at 5827 Yellowstone Road,
Cheyenne.
