HOW DID WE MISS THIS?

Earlier this year, Governor JB Pritzker issued a proclaimation recognizing the unit's efforrs assisting with the Washington State flooding.

Well, on 04Feb2026, the Illinois Senate adopted a resolution recognizing the same.

This resolution was introduced by Senator Don DeWitte and read into the record for history.

2LT Antonini works as an EMT and received her Bachelors in Biochemistry.

She previously was one of our junior NCOs before deciding to become an officer.

At 1054 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Markham to near Crete to near Bradley, moving east at 75 mph.

THESE ARE DESTRUCTIVE STORMS producing measured winds gusts of 90 to over 100 mph.

HAZARD...100 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...You are in a life-threatening situation. Flying debris may be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be destroyed. Expect considerable damage to homes and businesses. Expect extensive tree damage and power outages.

These severe storms will be near... Hammond, Gary, Merrillville, East Chicago, Schererville, Lansing, Crown Point, Highland, Munster, and Cedar Lake around 1100 AM CDT. Hobart, Lake Village, Lake Station, and Winfield around 1105 AM CDT.

* At 922 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Winnebago to near Byron to near Sublette, moving east at 55 mph.

IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

Level 1 of 5 Large Hail Risk...up to quarter size.

Elevated Flooding Risk.

DISCUSSION...

Showers and thunderstorms will spread through the northern Chicago metro area through mid afternoon. A few storms may produce
locally damaging winds and hail to the size of quarters, though most storms should have maximum winds of 40 to 45 mph and up to penny size hail. This risk area does include the city of Chicago. Coverage of storms should be lower south of Interstate 80.

Additional thunderstorms may develop later this evening, with the potential to produce additional localized severe weather as well as locally heavy rainfall which could lead to instances of flash
flooding.
