INDIAN AMERICANS FORUM - STATEMENT
We at Indian Americans Forum welcome the passage of The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill in Lok Sabha.
This is a much-needed reform to protect the future of our youth and restore faith in the examination system.
However, we regret to note that Parliament, the temple of our democracy, is now becoming a platform for election speeches rather than constructive debate from both sides of the aisle.
Parliament these days, instead of being a forum for legislation, reforms and constructive debates, has become a shouting match between parties trying to gain political mileage.
Those were the days when Indian Parliament witnessed ruling and opposition leaders exchanging Urdu Shayari and healthy jibes, which enhanced the image of Parliament. As rightly said, Parliament should be a place for meaningful exchange of views in the better interests of the people of India.
We are of the opinion that Leader of Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi should take a better speech and content writer and avoid getting into interruptions and reactionary comments from treasury benches which hinders him from conveying his message effectively to the people of India.
We are also equally of the opinion that the treasury benches and BJP members should exercise restraint and stop interrupting the conduct of proceedings.
Let Parliament be for debate, not disruption
