🚨 NEW ILLINOIS LAW TAKES EFFECT TO HELP IDENTIFY HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Illinois is expanding who is trained to recognize the signs of human trafficking.

📅 Public Act 104-0099�Signed into law in 2025�Effective January 1, 2026

The law expanded Illinois’ Human Trafficking Recognition Training Act to include employees at restaurants and truck stops, in addition to lodging establishments.

Employees who regularly interact with the public are required to receive training on recognizing human trafficking and how to report suspected cases.
Why does this matter?

Human trafficking can happen in places people visit every day. A trained employee may notice warning signs that others don't.

This is more than a new law — it's another tool Illinois is using to fight human trafficking.

💜 SUNDAY MESSAGE | YOU ARE NOT ALONE 💜
September is Su***de Prevention Month.
Today, Honorable Women Inc. wants to remind you of something that may be difficult to believe when you’re hurting:

Your life matters.
Your voice matters.
Your story matters.
And you do not have to walk through the hard days alone.
Mental health is health.

We have to stop treating emotional pain like something we should simply “get over.” Sometimes the strongest thing a person can do is say:
“I’m not okay, and I need help.”

There is no shame in needing someone to listen.
There is no shame in seeking counseling.
There is no shame in taking care of your mental health.

And there is no shame in reaching out when the weight feels too heavy to carry by yourself.
To every survivor, every woman silently struggling, every mother, daughter, sister, friend, and loved one who is hurting:
Please stay.
Please speak.
Please reach out.

Please give yourself another day.
You are more than this moment.

✨ THERE IS A LIFE AFTER THE STORY.

When you hear the word survivor, what picture comes to mind?

Someone broken?
Someone struggling?
Someone waiting to be saved?

We need to change this stigma.

Here’s the truth!

A survivor can be a person building their business.
Raising children who know nothing about their past.
The young person discovering who they are.
The student graduating.
The employee getting promoted.
The artist creating again.
The person laughing so hard they forget, for a moment, how much they have endured.
Survival is not a personality.
It is a chapter.

There is so much more to a survivor than what was done to them.
At Honorable Women Inc., we don't just see what happened.

We see who they are becoming.
And sometimes the most powerful part of the story isn't surviving.
It's finally getting to live. ✨

🚩 GROOMING SIGNS YOU SHOULD NEVER IGNORE

Grooming doesn't always look dangerous in the beginning. It can look like kindness, friendship, love, protection, or someone simply “being there for you.”

Watch for these warning signs:

🚩 Excessive attention or compliments
🚩 Making someone feel “special” or chosen
🚩 Giving gifts, money, food, rides, phones, or other favors
🚩 Creating a relationship that becomes intense very quickly
🚩 Testing boundaries with small inappropriate behaviors
🚩 Sexual jokes, conversations, questions, or comments
🚩 Asking for or sending inappropriate photos
🚩 Encouraging secrecy
🚩 Saying, “Don't tell anyone” or “They wouldn't understand”
🚩 Isolating someone from family and friends
🚩 Trying to become someone's only source of support
🚩 Using someone's trauma, loneliness, or vulnerability against them
🚩 Making the person feel like they owe them something
🚩 Creating emotional or financial dependency
🚩 Monitoring their phone, location, or relationships
🚩 Making inappropriate behavior seem normal
🚩 Blaming the victim for the abuser's behavior
🚩 Gaslighting or making someone question what happened
🚩 Threatening to expose secrets
🚩 Threatening the person or their loved ones
🚩 Alternating affection with anger, punishment, or cruelty
🚩 Creating an “us against everyone” relationship
🚩 Promising protection, love, money, housing, or a better life in exchange for compliance
Remember: Grooming is often a process. It may begin with trust and attention before becoming control and exploitation.
🚩 A red flag doesn't have to look like a red flag at first. Pay attention to the pattern.
