Welcome to the beautiful month of June. This is the month of Midsummer, the middle point where we reach an exciting transition bursting open with light that illuminates the path that lay ahead.
We have traveled through Winter, where long nights teach us to rest and hold space for reflection, and into Spring, where awakening and renewal reveal themselves as gifts — offered gently as we emerge from the darkness. Little by little, along the way, we have been gathering light: tender moments lit aglow by the simple practices of rest, reflection, awakening, and noticing.
Around the world, in stories and folklore, the Summer Solstice represents a time of growth, energy, liveliness, and celebration. Having gathered our light through the quieter seasons, we now turn outward — tending to both the outer landscape of our gardens, forests, and prairies and the inner landscape of our hearts, minds, and souls. We cannot travel through the seasons without rest, renewal, growth, and gratitude — each one preparing us for what comes next. Summer teaches us that growth is possible. It is not always easy, this growing, but in the trying we expand our experiences, widen our perspectives, and arrive — changed, fuller, more ourselves. In the season of Summer, the work of growth is enhanced by the joy, the light, and the celebration.
As we welcome the longest day of the year, let us celebrate by lifting our faces to the sky, throwing our arms and hearts wide open — sharing the light we have been gathering in harmony with the long light of the Solstice. In tending to both your inner and outer landscape, I invite you to welcome the Summer Solstice with me this June. Come celebrate in community and share your light with the forest. See what lessons the forest has to offer in return.
Wishing everyone a beautiful Solstice!
