Update about central city access.

The Chicago Loop Neighbors Association is saddened by the violence occurring in our neighborhood. Peaceful protest to the violence of racism is certainly understandable, but looting and rioting are not the solution to problems in our society.

For those who live in Chicago's Loop, the situation can be dangerous. For most, the best thing is to stay inside and stay safe. Do check on friends and neighbors, especially those who are elderly or ill.

At this point, our neighborhood is cut off from the rest of the city with expressway ramps and public transit shut down.

Of course, this time will pass. We will address the problems facing our city and our nation. We will have time to return our neighborhood to the bustling, vibrant neighborhood we love. Chicago recovered after 1871, we recovered after 1968, we will do it again with both covid-19 and the unfortunate violence in the wake of George Floyd's death.

Feel free to share this message with others you know who live in or near to Chicago's Loop neighborhood.

After a terrible night in the neighborhood, I see a good sign. Volunteers have come out to begin the cleanup. I trust that the sense of civic consciousness and engagement that Chicagoans have will help us to both address legitimate issues and restore our beloved city.

I have heard from a number of people in The Loop and surrounding areas that their residential buildings are ok. Please post if you know otherwise.

Please continue to stay safe and check in on your family, friends, and neighbors.

Things are sure looking rough tonight in the neighborhood. How are things in the residential buildings?
