COVID: Call to end Irish Diaspora citizenship for Americans

What outrageous drivel. Now more than ever we need to nurture our special relationship.

A call to end Irish Diaspora citizenship as American's take vacations to Ireland during COVID is extraordinary. Now is not the time for nativism in Ireland as the island nation must fight to keep US / Irish relations strong during the COVID-19 crisis.

Irish word "culchie" could be banned from Scrabble

I don’t find it it offensive. Being a Galwegian I regard it a badge of honour. Soon before we speak we’ll have to check on what words we can or cannot say.
Lighten up. Get a life.
Lighten up get a life.

The Irish word "culchie" is among a whole host of words that the North American Scrabble Players Association (NASPA) is considering removing from play for being derogatory.

It has often been said that you don't miss something until it's gone. Under lockdown, I can imagine that there are many 'at home' reminiscing fondly about their last pint in the local or harkening back to a time, when their daily activities had not been curtailed by a global pandemic.

At Monday’s commemoration of the first sitting of Dáil Éireann , President Michael D. Higgins, in his speech stated;
“The first Dáil drew its support not only from the will of the people of Ireland, but from Irish people across the world. We are, and we must never forget, a migratory and diasporic people”
Thankfully, many can now go away for life experiences and return home. 100 years later, the Irish diaspora still hold a strong affinity to Ireland.
This May, a Referendum on extending voting rights in Presidential Elections to Irish Citizens living in the North of Ireland and abroad, will be held and I call on the Irish electorate to give the right to vote to our fellow Irish citizens living in the North of Ireland and abroad.
