🚧 CONSTRUCTION NOTICE ⚠️

Please be advised of the upcoming road closure in Albany Park at Whipple and Lawrence. The Department of Water Management (CDWM) was just approved to start their project as early as tomorrow. If you use Lawrence to commute home or to work, please be prepared to adjust your commute as this intersection will be close to traffic for approximately 6 weeks.

Detour is as follows:
➡️ Eastbound on Lawrence: Kedzie (north) to Foster, Foster (east) to Western, and Western (south) back to Lawrence.

⬅️ Westbound Lawrence: Western (north) to Foster, Foster (west) to Kedzie, and Kedzie (south) back to Lawrence.

This project is a part of the city's "Building A New Chicago" initiative. CDWM will be installing an underground sewer structure which will improve the way water flows in the sewer and significantly minimize issues of flooding. Read more about the construction plan in the images below.

If you wish to speak with someone working on the project you may contact Trevor McIntyre at (630) 474-4560. Questions or concerns may also be directed to Lilia in our office at 773-840-7880.

Reopened CPS Classrooms Will Range From Empty To Nearly Full, Often Based On Income And Race

*Español Abajo

Dear community,

As we all know, CPS has decided to reopen schools and there are a lot of worries from teachers, staff and families. I have heard from many parents who are trying to figure out what to do to make themselves heard.
Many of us Alders have expressed to CPS, CEO Janice Jackson and Mayor Lightfoot that we do not support reopening schools right after the holidays and without all safeguards in place. The vast majority of families have expressed that they do not feel safe and won’t be sending their children back. I would love to hear from the LSC’s in our schools about any meetings being scheduled to discuss this issue. I invite all the LSC’s in our 33rd Ward elementary schools to come together with community and express your thoughts about the reopening plan. We are here to support your efforts and amplify your voices.

Querida comunidad,

Data obtained by WBEZ show a stark socioeconomic divide. Only 32% of low-income students eligible to return to the classroom are expected back.

Hello neighbors,

I wanted to give you an update on a letter we sent to the Inspector General Joe Ferguson requesting an investigation on the handling of Ms. Anjanette Young’s case. Since we won’t be sending out a Newsletter this week I wanted to let you know that we received a follow up response from him and I’m sharing it below. We will have more information for you about the case and the work we are doing to advance transparency and accountability in our city in the coming weeks.

Querida comunidad:

Respetuosamente,

Joe Ferguson
Oficina del Inspector General”

I support the idea of redirecting police funding to support alternate solutions for NON-violent crimes. These ARE VIOLENT CRIMES. We need more police, and we need to give them the tools they need to do their jobs.
I can't help but wonder why there is no parking restriction enforcement in the area of Kimball and Ainslie. I called 911 as the CAPS office told me to and yet black SUV, license # BK 37291 has remained unticketed and untowed. Repeat offender # BK 37291 was in this location all of last night once again.
Alderman, please speak to this post that appears to be from your chief of staff. Thank you.

Here is an idea....clean up your ward! It is so dirty....the Westside of your ward....the streets all filled with paper and trash.... Notice the Manor is clean and tidy! Perhaps the People that are getting free food....could do something in return! WORK AND CLEAN....
