Illinois Migrant Council IMC’s partners with key Illinois stakeholders to improve access to services for farmworker and rural Latino communities. The Illinois Migrant Council or "IMC" is a community-based non-profit organization with the primary mission of promoting employment, education, health, housing and other opportunities for migrant and seasonal farmworkers (MSFW) and their families to achieve economic self-sufficiency and stability.

¿Eres Latino? ¿Trabajas como trabajador de campo/agricola? ¿Eres migrante? ¿Quisiera participar en una investigación?

Marisol Beaulac y Ashley Poolman (estudiantes de postgrado) y la Dra. Ruth Zúñiga (profesora) en Pacific University ubicada en Hillsboro, Oregón, están conduciendo una investigación sobre la resiliencia, el estrés, y la salud en los trabajadores de campo.

• Como participante en esta investigación, tiene que tomar una encuesta en línea que durará 10-20 minutos.

FROM ILLINOIS MIGRANT COUNCIL (IMC) TO PARTICIPANTS OF OUR PROGRAMS AND FARMWORKERS

Like each of you, the staff of the Illinois Migrant Council (IMC) is very aware that the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) is affecting all our daily lives and especially our delivery of services. We want you to know that we are all committed to doing as much as possible to protect your well-being and help you during this difficult time.

Measures taken by IMC staff at our offices:
⇨ closing our offices to the public to limit possible virus exposure until further notice; a closure sign has been or will be posted, on outer doors at each of our sites;
⇨ contacting you by telephone, cell texting and/or email with the name, cell telephone number
and email address of the IMC staff who will be your primary contact at your IMC site;
⇨ providing access to your primary staff contact during regular business hours via telephone,
cell texting, voice mail or email (or video conferencing if available):
-- to talk about your need for services or training
-- to refer you to other IMC staff who can help you with your situation
-- to complete an application for program enrollment
-- to assist you with your training plan such as identifying sites with internet and computers
-- to set up a specific time and date for an appointment at the office when this is essential to meet
your needs, practical and follows Illinois’ social distancing and health and safety guidelines;
⇨ encouraging you to follow Illinois guidelines for social distancing (e.g., using drop off boxes,
signature apps for forms), and to use health and safety practices.

Measures taken to assist eligible clients in need of services:
⇨ sharing information with you about locations with internet, computers, and printers that also
meet social distancing and health and safety guidelines;
⇨ assisting you to meet your training needs while participating in classes from home (e.g., finding free internet, printing documents/USBs for classwork, corresponding with your school;
⇨ continuing to provide information about available emergency services (food pantries, etc.);
⇨ expanding services to meet your nutritional needs by covering longer periods of time;
⇨ expanding temporary emergency services to help you purchase essential hygiene supplies at IMC identified vendors; items may include: disinfectant, toilet paper, paper towels, soap, detergent, deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, diapers. (Other types of services and protective items
such as gloves and masks may be added as information is updated about needs and benefits.)
