CALL FOR LEADERS (BOARD MEMBERS): We are currently seeking Tau Sigma members who wish to fill four leadership roles for only the Spring 2015 semester: (1) Social Media Director, (2) Intellectual/Educational Director, (3) Social Justice Director, and (4) Fellowship Director. Those who are interested can run for one of these offices during our first meeting of the Spring 2015 semester, which will be held on Mon., Jan. 12, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., at Damen, room 214. All attending members can run for one of these offices. Voting will take place. For more information, please message us here.

FUTURE ELECTIONS: Going forth, an election will be held after the Spring 2015 induction ceremony for ALL eight leadership positions, including the four new positions mentioned above as well as the primary board positions: president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. All eight positions are considered board members. Information about each role can be found in the revised constitution for our chapter. For more information, please message us here.

CURRENT SPRING 2015 BOARD MEMBERS:
President David Walker
Vice President Sophia Escobedo
Secretary Gayle Lilliana Blakely
Treasurer Peter Lucas Therp

FOUR DIVISIONS: Our chapter, Gamma Delta, currently has four divisions of leadership: (1) Social Media (i.e., Facebook, public relations), (2) Intellectual-Educational-Scholarship (i.e., encouraging research, study groups, intellectual gatherings), (3) Social Justice (i.e., encouraging civic engagement, service-learning, service-leadership), and (4) Fellowship (i.e., encouraging connection, unity, diversity).

EVERYONE HAS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR LEADERSHIP, INCLUDING NONMEMBERS: Every division is to host at least three events per semester (i.e., one event per calendar month), with the exception of the Social Media Division, which is responsible for ongoing maintenance of our social media sites (currently, Facebook) and announcements via flyers, etc. Any member or nonmember can lead and suggest additional events for the calendar, so long as all board members and the faculty adviser approve unanimously on said events. The initial events shall be led and hosted by each division leader, with the support of our primary board (president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer). All fundraisers for the chapter must be approved by the faculty adviser and made known to the treasurer. Once approved, all correspondence, photos taken at events, flyer requests, and public announcements via social media must be made known to the Social Media Director, who then copies the Secretary. Every member and nonmember has an opportunity for leadership in any one of the divisions by suggesting and overseeing an approved event. For more information, please message us here.

WELCOME TRANSFER, COMMUTER STUDENTS! Our chapter meetings aren't just for members, they're also open to the Loyola community and here to serve our fellow transfer and commuter peers. Since all members and leaders of Tau Sigma are transfer students, and the majority are known to be also commuter students, we would like to reach out to that population on our campus, among others. If you have a suggestion, event idea, or any questions, please feel free to message us here.

HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY AND NEW YEAR, EVERYBODY! We look forward to seeing you next year at one of our meetings and/or events!

IN THE SPIRIT TO GIVE? We are currently seeking donations for a toy drive for children in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood. Our chapter is working in tandem with Loyola Alum and Intrinsic High School teacher Stacey Lynn, as well as with Onward Neighborhood House, in an effort to help less fortunate children and families.

Acceptable donations include children's toys and monetary donations valued at $5.00 or more.

To offer your gift, or for more information about the toy drive, please message us here on Facebook.

Thank you for your continued support!

Yesterday we launched this page in efforts to expand member participation and awareness of our honor society. Tau Sigma National Honor Society is an honor society for transfer students who have earned a 3.5 GPA or above during their first semester. Every year we hold an induction ceremony to celebrate our new scholars' academic achievements, and every semester we host general meetings to implement exciting events, including fellowship, educational, and social justice events--all of which demonstrate our ability in leadership for the Loyola and Chicagoland communities.

Originally merit- and volunteer-based, our officers have been selected to launch the efforts of the society and to formulate a workable constitution that will carry its heritage and achievements from one year to the next. In the near future, elections for board members will be held on an annual basis. As of today, our current board members and their respective duties are as follows.

President: David Walker
David oversees all three chapter divisions - Social Justice, Education, and Fellowship, as well as the functions of all board members and activities conducted for the chapter.

Vice President: David Kaufmann
David assists David (Walker) with all presidential duties, to include overseeing all board members and divisions of our chapter.

Secretary: Gayle Blakely
As secretary, Gayle takes meeting minutes, assists the president and vice president with administrative tasks, and assists the social media division (a subsection of the fellowship division) with administrative tasks, such as Facebook postings, photo uploading, database management, etc. Additionally, Gayle is co-leader to the Education division of our society and plans to establish a promotion of study groups. Gayle is to work in tandem with the new Education division leader Peter Lucas Therp.

Treasurer: Sophia Escobedo
Sophia can be contacted for anything concerning social justice outreaches, fundraisers, event planning, and purchase requests for our society.

Social Justice Division Leaders: Sophia Escobedo and Peter Lucas Therp
Sophia is also the Social Justice division leader working in tandem with Peter Lucas Therp. At the first meeting, Sophia suggested working with the homeless shelters in our community, decorating for Christmas and Hannukkah (without telling anyone--a "prank" with good intentions), and establishing member and visitor introductions.

Fellowship/Outings Division Leaders: Damir Ferreira and Victoria Wohdolowski
As part of the Fellowship/Outings Division, the Social Media Division Leader is Victoria Wohdolowski. Victoria offered to implement a Survey Monkey, a LinkedIn Group, and a page. Additionally, as part of the Fellowship/Outings division, both Damir and Victoria suggested an ice cream social.

Education Division Leaders: Gayle Blakely and Peter Lucas Therp
At the first meeting Gayle and Peter offered ideas for starting study groups on campus and building our education/scholarship division of our chapter.

Transfer Retreat Division Leader: Hannah Schaefer
Hannah announced at our first meeting that there will be a transfer retreat, which has since passed. For information about upcoming transfer information, you may contact Hannah or our director, Scott Harris for more details.

Tau Sigma Adviser and Director: Scott Harris
Scott founded our chapter in 2009, and our official Tau Sigma National Honor Society chapter's name is Gamma Delta Chapter (76).

We look forward to meeting you soon at our next general meeting. We also encourage you to "like" our page, share event photos, and offer suggestions for our new Page. If you are interested in membership and are a new student at Loyola this semester, feel free to contact the adviser or one of the board members for more information by messaging us. Additionally, if you are a current member and would like to learn more about participating in and/or leading an event, feel free to message us as well.

Have a great semester, everyone.
