ALBA Movements: "In the face of fragmentation, let's defend articulation"

With the commitment of each movement and militant to strengthen solidarity with the people of Cuba, to continue clarifying the truth of the Cuban Revolution, to pressure their governments to help Cuba with the shipment of fuel, medicine and other resources, and to continue fighting against the blockade, the new meeting between the delegates to the 4th. Assembly of ALBA Movements and the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
The exchange took place on Saturday morning in the Portocarrero Hall of the Palace of the Revolution and was attended by a wide representation of the more than 190 delegates from 27 countries from several continents who gathered in Havana these days to celebrate their Fourth Assembly "as a reaffirmation of the solidarity and committed accompaniment of the popular movements with the struggle for resilience of the Revolution Cuban."
It was at the same time, the participants agreed, one more example that Cuba will continue to defend just causes in the world, a legacy of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, who is also the center of the platform's tribute as part of the commemorations for the centenary of the birth of the leader of the Cuban Revolution.
The 4th. The Assembly of ALBA Movements met for four days in panels where the current situation in Cuba as a result of the increased aggressiveness of the U.S. Government, including the threat of military invasion, was addressed.
They also analyzed issues related to the history of revolutions; the challenges of the socialist project; socialism in the construction of unity, and the development of ALBA Movements as a present and horizon.
The members of the Political Bureau, Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Party, and Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the exchange. Also attending, among other leaders, were Deputy Prime Minister Inés María Chapman Waugh and comrade Noemi Rabasa Fernandez, first vice president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), who moderated the dialogue.
The delegates to the 4th. ALBA Assembly Movements made their commitment and oath in favor of Cuba and its Revolution convened by comrade Joao Pedro Stedile, a member of the national coordination of the Landless Movement of Brazil, who urged them to assume a platform of commitment to support the Cuban people, "because without him," he said, "we are not going to move forward."
"Cuba," said Joao Pedro, "is the trench of humanity today, as are other peoples such as Palestine in Gaza, Venezuela, Haiti, who are facing the hard life that the empire imposes on us."
"So," Stedile explained from the spokesperson of the Landless Movement, "we have to grab that commitment to share what we have with Cuba and guarantee our victory against imperialism."

The Colombian Karen Gutiérrez, of Marcha Patriótica, brought with her "a message of integration, dignity and hope for the Cuban people" and the commitment to continue working together on the horizon of socialism and the construction of the Great Homeland.
Camille Chalmers, popular leader and coordinator of the Haitian Platform for Alternative Development (PAPDA) and a reference of Caribbean critical thinking, transmitted from its people, people of historic social movements, "respect, admiration for the Cuban people, the Party and the government." "The Cuban Revolution," he said, "is the beacon of dignity and hope for all peoples who want to build socialism."
Rafael Barajas, director of Morena's National Institute of Political Training and a prominent cartoonist and journalist, underscored the historical ties between Cuba and Mexico, since Martí and Fidel, and thanked for the important professional and humanist work that the Cuban medical brigades are developing in that nation.
"Today," Barajas added, "defending Cuba is also defending Mexico and defending Latin America," words that were reciprocated by comrade Díaz-Canel, who conveyed to him the feelings of admiration and affection for the Mexican people and President Claudia Sheinbaum.
"From Mexico," the Cuban statesman explained, "every day messages of encouragement arrive, signs of help, of solidarity, knowing that there is enormous pressure from imperialism on them to fracture that brotherhood."
Pablo Ignacio Lombardi, historian and writer of Argentine national thought and chronicler of popular identity and feeling, spoke on behalf of a people that is "the land of San Martín, Perón, Evita, Che Guevara and Maradona, a great friend of Cuba."
He denounced the dark moments that mark the world today, with the cruelest imperialism that has ever been seen in history, a sign that it is a regime that is in full decadence, so the violence it is using is the clearest evidence of its impotence in the face of the fate to which the world will drag it.
But now, he added, we are in Cuba, "land that is making. A Cuba that continues to fight at the highest level in defense of the peoples of the world."
At the close of the meeting with the friends of ALBA Movements, comrade Díaz-Canel Bermúdez spoke for about an hour about the challenges facing the world with the resurgence of a neo-fascism with a new quality; about the imperialist offensive against the Global South, about the Cuban reality, and about the challenges that the peoples of the planet must assume in order never to give up on that world that is still possible, but for which we must continue to fight with more strength.
Thus, among the challenges facing leftist forces in the region today, Díaz-Canel referred to the need to reverse the process of right-wing movement in Latin America and the Caribbean; the struggle for peace; the defense of socialism; the defense of unity; and the defense of our own identity, of the cultural identity that we peoples share.
"In the face of fragmentation, let's defend articulation. In the face of misinformation, let us defend our conscience. In the face of resignation, let's put organization first. In the face of the algorithm that they try to impose on us on the networks, let's put humanism first. In the face of selfishness and extreme individualism, let us put solidarity first. And in the face of cultural colonization, let's put identity first. Those are our alternatives. Those are our weapons," Díaz-Canel said.
