Emerging technologies. An overview of the Superconducting Quantum Computing Materials and System Research Center at Fermilab
Quantum information science (QIS) is an emerging technology and a key area of research. Advancement in quantum technology can help us improving traffic patterns, financial modeling, cyber-security and even weather forecasting and medical procedures. The Superconducting Quantum Materials and Systems Center, or SQMS, led by Fermilab, brings together national laboratories, academia, and industry to make revolutionary advances in quantum computing and sensing, including the building and deployment of a beyond-the-state-of-the-art quantum computer. The quantum devices developed at SQMS will have game-changing impacts in basic science and in our everyday lives. The SQMS research center is also committed to empowering the next generation of quantum scientists and engineers and steward the related ecosystem to bring innovation in QIS. This ecosystem is particularly developed in the Chicago area.
Forza bambini, prepariamo in fretta un'esplosione di sapori! 💥🍒🍇🍋

Photographing Italy: Identity, History, and the Contemporary Landscape
A conversation with Silvia Camporesi
By Dr. Giovanni Aloi
This series of six lectures and dialogues maps crucial moments in the history of Italian photography. We will consider the initial responses to the medium, how photography impacted the emergence of Italian national identity, and the rise of political propaganda. And we’ll explore the recent reconfigurations of Italian landscapes in contemporary art photography as part of a complex and ongoing identity quest — a critical approach with a focus on ethical, political, and environmental issues that has placed Italy at the forefront of international photographic debates.
Silvia Camporesi was born in Forli in 1973. She received her degree in Philosophy. She uses the languages of photography and video to build tales drawn from a mixture of myth, literature, religions, and reality. In recent years, her research has focused on the Italian landscape. Since 2004, her work has been on display at the following solo exhibitions in Italy: Dance dance dance at the MAR of Ravenna in 2007, Planasia at the Reggio Emilia European Photography Festival in 2014, Genius Loci at MAC in Lissone in 2017, and abroad: À perte de vue at the Chambre Blanche in Quebec in 2011; 2112, at Saint James Cavalier of Valletta in 2013, Atlas Italiae exhibited at the Abbaye de Neumünster in Luxembourg in 2015, at the Art Musing in Mumbai in 2017 and at the Desfours Palace in Prague in 2018. She has participated in the following group exhibitions: Italian camera, San Servolo Island, Venice in 2005; Con gli occhi, con la testa, col cuore at the MART in Rovereto in 2012, Italia inside out at Palazzo della Ragione, Milan in 2015, Extraordinary visions at MAXXI in Rome in 2016 and at the Kolkata center in Calcutta in 2019; The Quest of Happiness at the Serlachius Museum in Mantta in Finland. In 2007, she was awarded the Celeste photography prize, while in 2008 and 2010 sh

The Italian Factor at Fermilab: Giorgio Bellettini in a conversation moderated by Paul Grannis.
A webinar of the #weareISSNAF series, introducing some of ISSNAF leading members and their fascinating research. Organized by ISSNAF, in cooperation with the Consulate General of Italy in Chicago and the Italian Cultural Institute in Chicago
A very significant outcome of the long-standing collaborative effort of Italians and North American nuclear physicists is the present deep involvement of Italians in the scientific and cultural life of Fermilab. Giorgio Bellettini reflects on a scientific career that started in the sixties, spanned two continents and was marked by a strong collaboration between American and Italian physicists, such as on the CDF experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider, where over 100 Italian scientists participated. His deep, constant involvement with Americans shaped many significant events, including two important scientific discoveries. After the end of CDF data-taking ten years ago, the Italian INFN is participating strongly in new world-class experiments at Fermilab and is looking to play an important role in the exploration of neutrino physics, the field where Italians have been making important contributions and on which the Lab is betting for future fundamental discoveries. Additionally, the Cultural Association of Italians at Fermilab, created by Bellettini to enable Italian students to train in the USA and to spread the Italian language, music and culture in the US, is another aspect of his important legacy.
