Louis Armstrong Legacy Program and Celebration (LALPC) The Louis Armstrong Legacy Program and Celebration (LALPC) is a music education initiative that uses Armstrong’s work to encourage and inspire the interest, creativity, and talent of aspiring young musicians in Chicago schools.

We are thrilled to welcome Wycliffe Gordon as LALPC's inaugural Artist-In-Residence for the 2012 program! Wycliffe will be in Chicago over two week-long residencies during the spring semester and will host the Celebration performance May 23-24. We can't wait to have him join us!

Another fabulous day of swingin' with Chicago's best young talents. We were even treated to some conga drums during a great version of "Caravan." All the students have worked so hard and sounded so great! We are proud of every one of you and can't wait to see you again next year! Meanwhile, PHOTOS COMING SOON!

WOW. Today's students really blew us away! Congrats to all participants and winners of the "Outstanding Musician" award. Your talents and commitment are very impressive. Tomorrow morning we're back at the Cultural Center to hear Northwest Middle School, Burley Elementary, Lincoln Park High School, Graham Elementary, Julian High School, and Lake View High School students perform at 10am!

Tomorrow's Celebration performance features budding jazz musicians from Morgan Park High School, Beasley Elementary, and Harlan High School. The event starts at 10 am at the Cassidy Theater and adjudication/award presentation ends around noon.
