PLEASE SHARE! The Illinois Tech Global Leaders Program is a free, year-round academic enrichment program that enables access and exposure to STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, mathematics)—as well as architecture, business, and psychology—for up to 100 high-achieving rising juniors and seniors per year from Chicago-area high schools. The Program, which is non-residential, takes place on IIT’s Main Campus, and provides four weeks of intensive, project-based summer programming; periodic workshops, seminars, and field trips during the school year; college and career advising; and leadership skills training and student grant competitions. Through and throughout this work, we intend to enable access and exposure to a broad range of STEM areas, as well as to engage students’ existing knowledge, critical inquiry, and motivation for interdisciplinary problem-solving and innovation. Founded in 2011, the Illinois Tech Global Leaders Program (formerly known as IIT Boeing Scholars Academy) is generously supported by a grant from the Boeing Company. The inaugural, 2011-2012 class of IIT Boeing Scholars includes 94 exceptional students hailing from dozens of Chicago-area high schools, chosen for their commitment to academics, promise as future leaders, and vision for positively impacting their communities and the world through STEM fields. Each IIT Boeing Scholar brings to the program their enthusiasm for engaging with peers in a collaborative and project-based learning environment, motivation to pursue a high-quality educational experience at the college/university level and beyond, and desire to innovate to solve real-world problems. __________ For more information about the Global Leaders Program, please visit our website (http://globalleaders.iit.edu) or contact Luke Chitwood, Program Manager, at [email protected] or 312.254-6532.

My Daily Travel Household Travel Survey

Tell CMAP how you get around, earn $50

Sign up to take the My Daily Travel survey at www.mydailytravel.com/cmap or by calling 1-855-981-7286. The survey asks households in northeastern Illinois to report how they get from place to place in our region.

The resulting data will help ensure that computer models of traffic flow are accurate so transportation investments can be based on sound analysis. The survey helps our region meet federal requirements and remain eligible for federal transportation funding.

Households that complete the survey by May 2019 will receive $50. In addition, school districts that partner with My Daily Travel to promote the survey to their schools’ communities will receive $10 per household that completes the survey. School districts that would like to participate must call the survey hotline (1-855-981-7286) to receive a customized URL, which will enable surveys to be “marked” as benefiting their district.

Hi! Sharing an email I received from Natasha Smith-Walker of Project Exploration: PE Seeking Instructors for fun summer STEM Programs! #chicago #education #kids #jobposting Project Exploration a Chicago-based nonprofit science education and youth development organization launched in 1999 to address the inequities in access to high-quality STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) opportunities in out-of-school time. Our mission is to create transformative learning opportunities for youth underrepresented in the sciences -- particularly students of color and girls -- by equipping them with the skills, practices, and mindset needed for a lifelong pursuit of learning. This summer we are offering a free, eight week STEM Camp on the west side of Chicago! We are searching for 25 qualified instructors who are involved in STEM and love to work with kids. Candidates should be available to start working in late May through the middle of August. The position is seasonal with an option to continue during the next school year. Hourly wage, rates from $15-$20 per hour depending on experience for up to 25 hours per week. College students, recent college grads are welcomed! Interested? Contact Surika Pillay at [email protected]
