Othernet is a globally accessible broadcast service that can be received by a DVD-sized device. Outernet is like satellite radio but for on-demand digital content, like interactive weather maps, news updates, apps, podcasts, ebooks, and emergency alerts.
Othernet is like satellite radio but for digital files. Our devices work even where the internet does not exist and our receivers do not require any training for installation. The receiver stores content locally, so you can access the data when you want it. Our service currently delivers interactive weather maps, news updates, apps, podcasts, ebooks, and emergency alerts, all for free.

Outernet Update: Project Empathy public TODAY! Join a global service learning project in knowledge sharing
Have been piloting #ProjectEmpathy with GEMS World Academy-Chicago for the past month and excited to launch publicly today! See how you can be a part of youth around the world connecting, sharing, and teaching each other. Outernet.is/empathy
Very excited launch #ProjectEmpathy today - a global service learning project connecting classrooms and cultures. Students build a cheap device that brings an offline classroom free content, then we enable the students to share their work and ideas with one another. Then the magic happens. Outernet.is/empathy.
