The Paycheck Protection Program ends June 30th !!!! Many Black-owned businesses have been shut out of critical federal relief through the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), with the number of working Black business owners dropping by more than 40 percent due to coronavirus-related closures--a rate higher than any other racial group. I working with Seaway Bank, Illinois NAACP, Illinois Black Chamber of Commerce, Cook County, the American business Immigration Coalition and Black Chicago Tomorrow to make sure our Black businesses are able to stay afloat, keep employees paid, and reopen their doors! If you need help with PPP application assistance, applied at a bank but haven't heard back, or want to find out if your business is eligible, fill out the form through the link below to be connected to expert help:
It is terrible the way residents and people from the Methadone clinic on 79th Indiana hang out in front of businesses’ on 79th street. These folks camp out in front of family dollar, D&J liquors, Burger King, McDonald’s, marathon gas station and ruffles school park. All day long, starting at 8:30am these folks are on the corner drinking, smoking, loitering and loitering. Some of them are know child predators. The Chicago police drive by, on their cell phones and look the other way. SSA 51 security patrol is non-existent, until a robbery/theft occurs at family dollar. In the last five years, there have been five murders on 79th street between king drive and st. Lawrence. Doesn’t the SSA 51 receive funding to help combat crime in Chatham area? Why don’t the police move these folks off the shopping district when they see them drinking and selling loose cigarettes? Possibly, d&j liquors needs to be shut down because it’s a nuisance business and it appears that they drive a lot of this nonsense. Residents don’t want to shop on 79th street between Indiana and st. Lawrence because they have to navigate around folks hanging out. Doesn’t CBA get funding for the SSA51 TIF area? Will it take a mass shooting/murder on 79th street before the chicago police/CBA/GCI/ssa51 security patrol become proactive? I’ve resigned myself to avoid shopping on 79th street. I also tell my family to avoid the area... I hope this message doesn’t fall on death ears and blind eyes. Best Chatham resident
