Any name suggestions for the fox?

No dog for the German President: Asked in an interview if she and her husband would welcome a dog in their residence, Elke Büdenbender had confessed her fondness for wire-haired dachshund dogs, but declined keeping one since she worried that the dog would be lonesome because of her and her husband’s many absences from home. And now – unasked – another canid has taken up residence on the grounds of Bellevue Palace: A fox has been regularly roaming the park of President Steinmeier’s official residence in Berlin. Thus, President Steinmeier has issued the following announcement: “May we introduce? The secret “lord of the castle” from Bellevue, who visibly likes it in the park of the Berlin office”, President Steinmeier wrote on Monday on his Instagram page. “A name baptism has long been due, hence our question to you: What should our castle fox be called?” President Steinmeier will choose a name from all the proposals, it said. Any suggestions?

The Roedelius Cells at ESS, Chicago

You can visit THE ROEDELIUS CELLS audio installation at ESS (reservations required) in a Covid-safe environment in person. Or, if you are not in Chicago, got to https://hubs.mozilla.com/jwP2ijY/the-roedelius-cells/ and see what Matthew Gantt came up with.
Both versions are available through January and are a PERFECT escape if the apartment ceiling is crashing down on you (Hüttenkoller is a word you should know)

The Roedelius Cells is a multi-channel audio installation created by Grammy-nominated US composer/sound artist Tim Story, constructed from thousands of short extracts culled from a decade of informal piano recordings made with friend and colleague Hans-Joachim Roedelius.

Short, repeating layers – consisting of thousands of fragments, each often just a second or two in duration – create a complex, syncopated interplay.

To extend the process of ‘re-composition’ to participants, Story incorporates a playback system that divides the individual layers of each piece discretely amongst eight speakers. The Roedelius Cells surrender their cohesion and re-coalesce in unique and unrepeatable ways for each individual participant as they explore the soundstage.
Challenging ideas of authorship, appropriation and composition, The Roedelius Cells blurs distinctions between composer and listener, and slyly subverts assumptions of what piano music can be.

As part of the launch of the Chemical (Re)Actions: On Environmental Struggles in Chicago executive director Cheryl Johnson will speak on the advocacy efforts of People for Community Recovery, an environmental justice organization located in the Altgeld Gardens public housing complex on the far South Side of Chicago.

Monday, December 14 at 6PM CST. Register here: http://bit.ly/ChemicalReactionsLecture

PCR was founded in 1979 by Cheryl's mother, Hazel M. Johnson, regularly referred to as the "Mother of the Environmental Justice Movement." Cheryl Johnson and PCR continue the work of fighting for greater equity in the community, and against the disproportionate burden of hazardous waste as it affects the South Side of Chicago.

Chemical (Re)Actions is a project by the Goethe-Institut that enables artistic exchanges responding to critical sites of environmental and social conflict in Chicago. This platform transforms the toxic tours given by these organizations into virtual content as a way to generate engagement with larger questions regarding pollution, industry, the environment, segregation and social equity. buff.ly/33WZ7Qt
