NATIONAL PET FIRE SAFETY DAY - July 15, 2020 | National Today

Yesterday was Pet Fire Safety Day. My office has stickers that you can display on the front door of your home alerting first responders how many pets are in the home. #PetFireSafetyDay

To get these stickers please email us at [email protected].

For many of us, pets are our most precious asset so it makes sense that we would dedicate a day to keeping them safe during one of the scariest things we can imagine. National Pet Fire Safety Day takes place every year on July 15, and it's a day to learn how to keep your pet safe in a fire. It was s...

Richard Nardini, Leyden school board president for 3 decades, dies at age 86

I heard my dad many times talk about Rich and just what a great, fair man he was. It was always about what are we doing that’s going to help these kids with the high school. It’s sad to see him go.

Richard Nardini, the former president of Leyden High School District 212, retired Chicago Sun-Times advertising director, and long-time Schiller Park resident, died June 22 at age 86.

Scammers pretending to be COVID-19 contact tracers

*SCAM ALERT*

The Illinois State Police issued a warning over the weekend about scammers pretending to be COVID-19 contact tracers. It is not a message from any official agency.

It is a shame that people would take advantage of humans during this pandemic.

Scammers are trying to pass themselves off as official coronavirus contact tracers. Illinois State Police (ISP) issued a warning over the weekend about people receiving text messages from scammers pretending to be contact tracers. In the posted example, ISP showed a photo of a text that read, "Someo...

Pritzker signs bill that makes Chicago casino more feasible

As a proud supporter of first responders the most significant provision of this bill is a mechanism that will be used to provide funding for the men and women of the Chicago police and fire departments.

First Responders are on the front lines fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is important the legislature find a way to secure a revenue stream for them.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a bill into law Tuesday that paves the way for development of a major casino in Chicago, something officials expect to provide significant revenues for the state's recently passed capital improvements plan known as Rebuild Illinois.

Many Still Struggle To Get A Hold Of Illinois Unemployment Offices; One Woman Finds Success Leaving Contact Info In Note At Door

Illinoisans continue to struggle with our state's unemployment system, even as our state moves into Phase 4 of re-opening. Illinois families deserve accountability and a system they can rely on when they need it most.

This is why I am cosponsoring legislation to conduct an official audit of the agency.

CBS 2 is Working for Chicago as we continue to hear that many people are waiting to receive benefits they are owed. Some are struggling to get simple answers from the state.
