The Czechs have left a lasting mark,
On American culture, bright and stark.
Their art and music fills the air,
Their food and drink a tasty pair.
They bring their traditions, rich and deep,
To this land where all are free to reap.
Their flavors add to our melting pot,
Making it richer, making it hot.
We appreciate their hard work and soul,
Their contributions, great and whole.
They are a valued part of our nation,
We are grateful for their inspiration.

Born in 1826, Vojtěch Náprstek came of age when the Czechs were reasserting their national identity after 200 years of Austrian oppression. He spent ten years living on the American Frontier, where he was heavily influenced by America's progressive thinking and democratic values.
