More than 2,000 men joined the Knights of Columbus during the first ever online Exemplification of Charity, Unity and Fraternity held on April 16. The exemplification was hosted digitally by the Supreme Council as a unique opportunity for men to join the Order in a time of social distancing and minimizing mass gatherings.

To accommodate the many candidates and prospects who were unable to participate last week, we are hosting additional online exemplifications every week for the near future. The next ceremonies will be this Thursday, April 23 (see below).

The procedure to follow is very simple.

Grand Knights or Financial Secretaries invite eligible candidates for admission and advancement to participate by clicking on this link:
https://files.constantcontact.com/716460b3001/4806cbdc-eab5-44e6-b8b6-e7afbeb24be3.pdf

and forwarding the downloadable PDF invitation to them.
Instruct candidates to register for the exemplification of their choice by clicking on its associated link within the PDF. Tell them that their families are welcome, and encouraged, to observe. The next four scheduled ceremonies are:

APRIL 23, 2020
8:00 PM EDT
10:00 PM EDT

Inspired by the Apostolic Exhortation for Catholic men written by Bishop Olmsted of Phoenix, the Knights of Columbus produced a video series which seeks to answer the question of what it means to be a man and how to live as a man in today's world.

An 18-year-old Catholic credited with saving the lives of his schoolmates when he lunged at a shooter at Denver's STEM School Highlands Ranch in Colorado wanted to become part of the Knights of Columbus, and a local branch of the Catholic organization is said to be helping pay the costs of his funeral.

Joshua Bucio, Amy Zabojnik, State Representative Fran Hurley, Alderman Matt O'Shea, City Clerk Anna Valencia, 1st Deputy Fire Commissioner Annette Nance-Holt, Local 2 President Jim Tracy and members of the Chicago Fire Department gathered at Engine 92's Quarters to announce the Annual Holiday Distribution of $600,000 to the neediest members of the Chicago Fire Department Family.

All widows/widowers of sworn members of the Chicago Fire Department whose income is less than $1500 per month and all children under the age of 18 who have lost a parent that was an active member of the Chicago Fire Department will be receiving a gift of $1250 before the Christmas.

This gift is made possible by the contributions of active and retired Chicago Firefighters and Paramedics as well as many generous donations of our supporters.

On behalf of our neediest widows and children, I cannot thank you for your support enough. Together, you all have made a difference in supporting our neediest and most deserving. Additionally, you have ensured that these members know that they are, and will always be, a member of the great Chicago Fire Department family with a proud history of service to our City and each other!
