Remembering Holodomor, the Famine-Genocide in Ukraine
VIRTUAL COMMEMORATION at the Illinois Holocaust Museum
Sunday, Nov 22, 3 pm
Registration: ihm.ec/holodomor2020
In 1932-33, millions of Ukrainians starved to death in a man-made famine deliberately engineered by Stalinist regime leaders.
Known as the Holodomor, the Ukrainian term for “killing by starvation,” the famine is one of the least known yet most horrendous genocides of the 20th century.
We invite you to join us, in partnership with Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation of America, for a solemn hour filled with testimony from children of Survivors.
The commemoration will feature remarks from Andrea Chalupa, screenwriter for 2019 film Mr. Jones, which chronicles a British investigative journalist as he breaks the news to western media in the early 1930s. Our program will culminate with a call to action to raise awareness about the Holodomor and speak out against those who deny history.
Registration required: ihm.ec/holodomor2020
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about how to access the program.

It is with great sorrow to learn about the unexpected passing of our long time Kyiv Committee member, Marta Kolomayets. Her contributions to Ukrainian causes are numerous. A wonderful influence on many, she touched our lives with kindness and friendship. Her passing creates a great void and we will miss her more than words can say.
Our sympathy to Marta’s husband Danylo Yanevsky, Mother Luba Kolomayets, and brother Andriy Kolomayets and their entire family.
May God give her eternal rest and may her soul rest in peace.

Big thanks to chastime of Voice of America and 5 канал, national channel in Ukraine, for this outstanding TV coverage! Videographer Roman Boyko / Video editor and Reporter Natalia Figel Karavanska Fashion Show Fundraiser by Kyiv Committee of CSCI & St. Nicholas Cathedral School
