SSHC Youth Programs are a comprehensive collection of programs that help youth & teens to achieve success, inherit positive self-esteem, distinguish values
Founded in June 1987, South Side Help Center (SSHC) is purposed to help people of all ages embrace a lifestyle of prevention against mental, physical and social ills by providing positive, healthy alternatives so that community residents can lead productive lives.
Youth Department Programs
C.R.E.A.T.E.- This program was developed to encourage youth 9-13 to positively increase the distinction of their important identity. In a safe haven of nurturing and support, participants receive help with homework, enhance their computer skills, organize and plan special events and participate in group activities. From their one-on-one sessions with mentors they also learn time management skills, interpersonal and networking skills and how to be effective communicators. The program also focuses on the prevention of substance abuse and violence using poetry, video production, newspapers, skits, and plays and helps prepare participants who are interested in pursuing careers in the arts. Male/Female Mentoring-
This program is designed to enhance male and female development by discussing the actions and feelings taking place during puberty, and also gives youth opportunities to explore their own self identity and development thru weekly discussions. The mentoring programs also encourage youth to work together for the improvement of social conditions for themselves and their communities.

We are nearly halfway through our 30-day fundraising campaign and are making a BIG push between now and the end of the day Tuesday, November 29. Tuesday is not just any Tuesday; it's Giving Tuesday, the biggest day of the year for online giving.
Our friends at SeedMoney, the nonprofit hosting our fundraising campaign, have an additional, time-sensitive grant we'd love to win: a $400 gift card to Gardeners Supply Company that we could really use for buying tools and supplies.
All you need to do to enter us into the running for that grant is make a donation of any amount to our campaign between now and noon Eastern Time on Wednesday, November 30 here:
https://donate.seedmoney.org/7765/create-peace-garden
On Wednesday, SeedMoney will randomly choose one donor as the lucky winner. If you happen to be that person, not only will you win a $400 gift card for us, but also a $100 gift card for yourself.
Thanks for supporting our work!
