A full service used book store with thousands of fine titles packed into an intimate space. Books in nearly every category are available in many price ranges with an emphasis on classic titles, the arts, unusual finds, and famous books and authors from all periods and countries, including books in foreign languages. Payments accepted are cash or check (with ID), credit card/debit/Apple Pay, or barter. We buy for $$ and also offer generous in-store credit every day, for up to one bag/box of books. Up to three bags/ boxes, we buy from 4 to 6 pm Sundays and Mondays. Four or more boxes, please call first.
We are not currently accepting donations sight unseen, without knowing what’s in the boxes, as we don’t have the capacity to deal with the large amount of donated books we cannot use. Any books we cannot use are no longer taken in. Thank you for understanding. Please refrain from bringing in: Water damaged books / books with the smell or appearance of mold / bug infestations Books missing covers / in poor condition / missing pages / children’s crayon markings / long inscriptions, esp. in children’s books, unless its vintage. A 1903 inscription is charming. A 1983 one, not so much. Reader's Digests / Condensed / Guiness Record books / Top Ten and other List books Romance Novels Books with excessive writing and highlighting (a little bit, okay. A lot, please leave at home)
We are ALWAYS looking for: Chicago-centric, Eastern philosophy & martial arts, Chess, Magic, Math, Science fiction/Fantasy/Horror, Occult, Art (especially 20th century), Poetry, Philosophy, current fiction, African American fiction and non-fiction, current Young Adult fiction and fantasy, current science, medical, and nature.... For starters. Not sure? Bring it in. Please call with questions, or for in-home viewings.
