Lots of really really high quality classical sheet music came in yesterday. Mostly for piano, but there are a few pieces for violin and other instruments. Pictured is about only about half of what I'm putting out.

That being said, here is today's strange news. Yet again a car tried to drive into the building but managed to get stopped by city of Chicago hardware.
Thank you parking meter company. We normally hate you, but today your sign stopped a car from hitting our building.

This is the kind of book that gives me agita. A couple of those signatures look really really good, but the other two, not quite so much.

I'm going with, this was signed by a fan club president which, strangely enough, was common for Beatles memorabilia in their early days.

Sheet music, scores, instructionals... We gots! Took in a nice little batch, with some high-end oboe music - Corigliano! Several instructionals for different instruments, even took in a beautiful score of the Mahler first and second, which I almost kept.
Scores and strummed instrument (guitars, banjoes..) music is in the musical literature section; sheet music and non strummed instructionals will be in the old filing cabinet in the back.

Our Story

A full service used book store with thousands of fine titles packed into an intimate space. Books in nearly every category are available in many price ranges with an emphasis on classic titles, the arts, unusual finds, and famous books and authors from all periods and countries, including books in foreign languages. Payments accepted are cash or check (with ID), credit card/debit/Apple Pay, or barter. We buy for $$ and also offer generous in-store credit every day, for up to one bag/box of books. Up to three bags/ boxes, we buy from 4 to 6 pm Sundays and Mondays. Four or more boxes, please call first.

We are not currently accepting donations sight unseen, without knowing what’s in the boxes, as we don’t have the capacity to deal with the large amount of donated books we cannot use. Any books we cannot use are no longer taken in. Thank you for understanding. Please refrain from bringing in: Water damaged books / books with the smell or appearance of mold / bug infestations Books missing covers / in poor condition / missing pages / children’s crayon markings / long inscriptions, esp. in children’s books, unless its vintage. A 1903 inscription is charming. A 1983 one, not so much. Reader's Digests / Condensed / Guiness Record books / Top Ten and other List books Romance Novels Books with excessive writing and highlighting (a little bit, okay. A lot, please leave at home)

We are ALWAYS looking for: Chicago-centric, Eastern philosophy & martial arts, Chess, Magic, Math, Science fiction/Fantasy/Horror, Occult, Art (especially 20th century), Poetry, Philosophy, current fiction, African American fiction and non-fiction, current Young Adult fiction and fantasy, current science, medical, and nature.... For starters. Not sure? Bring it in. Please call with questions, or for in-home viewings.
