I think that most of you are painfully aware of how little of contemporary literature gets translated into English, and of that paltry amount, how few books become finalists for the National Book Award. And while we'll have a chance to talk with author Anja Kampmann about her book's achievements in this country and in Germany, the fact that she'll be joined by translator Anne Posten gives us the chance to foreground the act of translation in a way that it seldom is and to talk about creative writing in general (it helps that Kampmann is also a poet).
