We hope that everyone is enjoying summer vacation!! If you are interested in doing something fun with the family this weekend. Join Friends of Burr during the Wicker Park Fest!!!

Attached is the schedule for the Kids Portion of the WP Fest, as you may or may not realize, Friends of Burr is in charge with all the profit coming back to Burr! In the last few years this has been extremely profitable, and we hope it will be again. But we need you...Friends of Burr is in need of volunteers to man the stations, sell tickets, etc. I know, you thought it was vacation and we are asking for help...if you have some time either Saturday or Sunday from 12-6, or set up in the morning, please leave a post with the time/day you are available. If you cannot volunteer, then please bring yourselves and the kids and support Burr during the Wicker Park Fest!!

As we reflect on the many joys and successes that this past school year has brought. We would like to thank the Burr staff for their dedication and support of all of our students. We will miss those who are leaving. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered with the organization of various school activities and fundraising. We appreciate all of your input and support. We look forward to the 2014-2015 school year.
Congratulations to our 8th grade students for completing this stage of their educational journey!
Be sure to keep up with daily reading this summer and make sure to get outdoors and be active.

PTO NEWS!!!

Good Evening Parents and Teachers,

Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to the end of the year. It has come to our attention that as the year is coming to an end it would be nice to let everyone know where their hard earned dollars went this year. So whether you may have attended our Parent Party, a movie night, Winter wonderland, Spring fling, Bingo, gave your child a dollar for that out of uniform day, or even gave them the spare change in your pocket on the way to school so they could buy that VERY IMPORTANT pencil or eraser from our school store....here is what your Burr PTO has been able to accomplish this year:

(In no particular order)
* Continuing Raz kids for the primary grades
* 3 portable basketball hoops
* 4 speakers for the lunchroom
* Prizes for the spelling bee
* Books for Ms. Faller's library
* Approximately $1300 toward 8th grade graduation to help offset graduation fees
* $2000.00 of gym equipment
* Replenishing ITunes on the ipads
* Japanese Kamishibai Story Boards
* Microwave and financial assistance in the Teachers Lounge "Makeover"
* 5th Grade Projector
* $1000 towards Pulse Beat Music
* Prizes for this years Summer Incentive Reading Program
* 20 ipad covers
** We are proud to announce that we presented Principal Klee with a check for $6000, for which he will be able to purchase 5 laptops for the teachers, and 10 ipads for student use. This dollar amount is particularly exciting because every year we are able to give him more and more money, in July 2012 our amount to him was $4,055, July 2013 we gave the school $5000.

So....drumroll.....that is an exciting total of over $14,000!!!!! So THANK YOU for your financial help, volunteering (you know who you are!) and just being you! We look forward to coming back in the fall and continuing to help the teachers and school with their needs.

Parents and Teachers, have an AWESOME summer....read, relax, collect Box Tops (yes, it's free money), and finally mark your calendars for August 27, 28, 29. After all the summer reading we will be starting off with a Scholastic Book Fair!!!! Details will follow on emails and the Burr School website, please check during the summer for more info.

A special thank you to 140 Chicago Cares Volunteers, Student Council, Mr. Klee and Mrs. Klimowski who rolled up their sleeves as they got to work painting numerous classrooms today. The goal was to provide a renewed learning environment for the students to feel proud, comfortable and inspired.

After the students received their yearbooks on Friday, we received many "great job", but we also received many "I forgot, can I still get one?". Well here is your answer: Yes! However, due to the smaller size order we will be getting the price is up to $25, a mere $5 extra. This will be due this WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4!! I know it's short notice, but we need to accommodate the company printing, delivery, and trying to get it by the last day of school. So parents, if you are interested, we can reserve one for your child, send $25 in an envelope to school with your child's name and contact info!
