Today, our team joined engineers and industry leaders from across the country at the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Spring Convention to dig into mandatory building assessments and what we can all learn from each other! 🏙️

As the only government representative on the panel, we are proud that Chicago’s Facade Ordinance remains part of the national conversation on building safety. A big thank you to ACI for the invitation and to our fellow panelists for such a great discussion.

Safety doesn’t happen in silos — and conversations like these are how we keep buildings and people safe. 🏗️

🥶 EXTREME COLD ALERT: Chicago temperatures are dropping into the negatives this weekend!

Your landlord is REQUIRED by law to keep your home warm (Sept 15–June 1):
🏠 68°F during the day (8:30am–10:30pm)
🌙 66°F at night (10:30pm–8:30am)

⚠️ Important: A space heater is not enough. Your building must provide a working permanent heating system.

If you’re using a space heater for extra warmth, keep it 3 feet away from anything that can burn and never leave it unattended.

Call 311 immediately:
✅ Report a violation
✅ Request a well-being check for a neighbor
✅ Find emergency resources

Check on your neighbors this weekend, especially seniors and families with young children. Stay warm and stay safe.

Construction permits issued! 🏗️

DOB is excited to support the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park project on Chicago's Southeast Side.

Our team joined leadership across all levels of government and other stakeholders to celebrate the groundbreaking of the PsiQuantum facility that will house the first-of-its-kind quantum computer.

Proud to be part of this incredible transformation of the former South Works site!
