Remember those popular posters in 2020 that celebrated our community’s graduates?

Well, good news. They’re back for 2021!

These beautifully designed, eye-appealing posters—designed and printed right here in the neighborhood--are available at no charge (one per household, please) at schools in Garfield Ridge and Clearing, as well as a few in other areas.

So please be sure and get yours soon from your school’s front office, and celebrate your graduate in a bright and cheerful way! If your child’s school does not have them, they are available (one per household) at the Archer Heights Credit Union, Archer and Nashville.

These posters are provided as a public service by Geno Randazzo of All Exterior Contractors, a consistent friend of our community’s boys and girls!

By now you've probably seen the surveillance camera footage. And this probably isn't the first time that Nicky's at Archer and Austin has been robbed by a petty criminal. After all, they've been around since 1967.

But rather than shake our heads and tsk-tsk on Facebook, as a few are doing in local FB groups, let's do something positive. Please head over there sometime in the next seven days and order a meal for your family.

Let's use our dollars to show Nicky's, which has provided jobs for hundreds of local men, women and teens over the years, that we support them. :-)

There is ALWAYS something and someone to be thankful for. While the holiday season is upon us, COVID-19 is still a pressing issue. Many travel to spend the day with loved ones and share a meal together. With the holiday season full of uncertainty with the pandemic, many of us won't be going to see loved ones. However, you can still express your love by sending a floral arrangement. Show your family and friends you are thankful for them by sending a bright, fall arrangement. Place an order by calling at 773-767-7055 before November 21, for delivery (or pick up) for the week of Thanksgiving and receive 10% off. Mention discount code "TURKEY10" when placing your order. During this Thanksgiving holiday, we are thankful and blessed for loyal customers like you in our community. May health and prosperity be with you always, and forever. Happy Thanksgiving and Stay Safe !!

Emergency Rental & Mortgage Assistance Currently Available It is recommend that eligible applicants apply as soon as possible. All the funding for these housing assistance programs comes from the federal government, specifically the CARES Act that was signed into law at the end of March. The following resources are available: Illinois Emergency Rental Assistance The IHDA COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance program (ERA) opened for applications yesterday, August 10, at era.ihda.org. Applications will be accepted August 10 - August 21. However, due to anticipated high volume, the application window may close early. Illinois Emergency Mortgage Assistance The IHDA COVID-19 Emergency Mortgage Assistance program (EMA) will open for applications on August 24 at ema.ihda.org. Cook County Rental Assistance Cook County's COVID-19 rental assistance program also opened for applications on Monday, August 10, at www.cookcountyil.gov/recovery. Residents of suburban Cook County may submit applications until August 18. Chicago Rental Assistance The Chicago rental assistance program is continuing to accept applications at chi.gov/housinghelp through August 14 or until 250,000 applications are received, whichever comes first. Frequently Asked Questions Who is eligible? Who will be awarded funds? • The application and eligibility requirements are somewhat different for all these programs, but all funds will be awarded based on a random selection of eligible applicants (anticipating that more people will apply than can be assisted). • People can apply for the City of Chicago or Cook County suburbs program and the IHDA program, but can’t actually receive funds from more than one program. What if someone doesn't qualify for these programs? • For individuals who can’t qualify to apply for the these programs, or don’t get funding, there are other resources such as the IDHS Homeless Prevention Program, for which they may qualify. • Other counties, such as Lake County, have additional COVID-19 rental assistance resources for their local residents. Especially outside of Cook County, the local community action agency is probably the best resource to find out about all the local resources available.
SAVE THE DATE!! We will also have a drawing for a $20 Portillo's Gift Card. Send us you receipt by email on the night of the event (block out personal info). We'll pick a winner randomly. All ya gotta do is eat ~ GOOD LUCK! [email protected]
