It was founded by Samreen Khan, who as former Senior Policy Advisor to the Governor of Illinois, was a key figure behind the growth and success of the Governor’s Office during her five years there.

Today, K-12 schools will miss their general state aid payment for the first time ever. In order to provide needed cash flow to schools, my office has directed the payment of $429 million in Mandated Categorical grants. While this will give some relief, categorical payments are no substitute for the General State Aid that parents, school administrators and, most importantly, the students, deserve to keep schools open through the entire school year.
