Ilache Leadership Institute Preparing [email protected] Leaders for Higher Education. The ILACHE Leadership Institute (ILI) has as its main goal to prepare [email protected] to become more effective leaders in colleges, communities and the professions.

The Illinois Latino Council on Higher Education Leadership Institute (ILI) provides seminars throughout ten months of the academic year to promote professional growth and prepare Latino leaders to become strong community builders in higher education and beyond. Participants are required to attend monthly Saturday seminars from for 10 months. The seminars include a range of topics related to Latino policy, advocacy and skills necessary for Latinos in any leadership position. The ILI leadership program incorporates a two tiered model that includes active organizing in the higher education community. Core Values:

Applicants for the ILACHE Cohort will need to select the visiting, non-degree seeking application and fill it out. Candidates must include the school where they received their Bachelor’s degree and the month and year it was conferred.

Once the department has received the application, they will send a disclaimer statement to the applicant via e-mail. Candidates will need to read the statement and then reply to the e-mail stating that they have read and understand the disclaimer. We are excited about the 24th Annual Professional and Student Development Conference that will take place on Friday, April 29th, 2016 at Northern Illinois University.

Please consider submitting a breakout session and/or poster presentation proposal for the 2016 conference. Call for Proposals deadline is February 19, 2016. We welcome proposals across disciplines addressing a program that is successful in your school and/or community. Proposals should address this year's conference theme: Reshaping Latino Access to Higher Education: Realities, Challenges, and Opportunities. The Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking an Academic Advisor to manage all aspects of the Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program, including student recruitment, application processing, student advising, enrollment management, program evaluation, and administrative organization and communication. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Graduate Studies to successfully implement the degree program.

· Provide administrative support to the Academic Fieldwork Coordinators, assisting them in the successful implementation of the student fieldwork program, which involves coordinating approximately 185 clinical and community placements annually. Assist fieldwork coordinators with managing Student Placements Agreements, student mandatory health requirements, accreditation requirements, administration of the four fieldwork courses and fieldwork program evaluation. Advises incoming and current students regarding health and other fieldwork requirements

· Program Management: Oversee all elements of OTD program including grade management, student records, OTD student handbook, OTD student projects and website maintenance. Coordinate course evaluations, provide summaries to faculty, and updating TK20 online system. Represent department at all college meetings regarding orientation, admissions, and graduation

· Provide assistance to MS program advisor in areas of admissions, information sessions, and advising prospective students

· Admissions: Coordinate OTD admissions policies and procedures including counseling students, record management, application deadlines, and application outcomes. Evaluate and process all applications, coordinate file review with admissions committee, enter decisions in online system.

· Support research and scholarship: Plan and implement research related events such as mini-conferences, training sessions, visiting scholars, and institutes. Develop and implement marketing plan for research conferences to showcase the work of faculty.

· Student Advising: Primary resource and consultant for students regarding their progress in the OTD program and completion of all requirements. Refers students to campus and college resources as well as connects with external resources on housing and community services. Provides information on scholarships and financial resources

· Student Recruitment: Develop student recruitment marketing materials including brochures, website, and testimonials. Coordinate and help develop student recruitment plan.

· Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or a related field

· Two years of work experience in an academic setting

· Knowledge of university policies, available student resources, and matriculation procedures

· Proficiency using MS Office Suite & MS Access, good project management skills

· Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with prospective and current students, visitors, and external audiences. Ability to handle a large volume of work with varying deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in higher education or administration

· Two years of work experience in in higher education with experience in academic advising

· Experience using student applicant databases and course management systems

· Intermediate level skills using MS Office and Access
