Community Startups Mentors help in preparing our Student Founders for their final pitch showcase, presenting their products and business models to a room of Chicago startup Founders, Funders and Community Leaders.
So much AWESOME happening at the The Y tonight! We saw six teams of fifth-graders pitch their ideas for social impact products that can: recycle waste, clean oceans, protect sea creatures, provide our homeless neighbors with shoes and preventative care and even desalinize water for all of Puerto Rico!

These group of young girls in won a $2,000 grant from the Allstate Foundation #GoodStartsYoung competition for their project, an app called Food For Thought that allows donors to purchase school lunches for those who cannot afford them.
"They saw a need — youth going hungry — and took it upon themselves to do something about it," Laura Freveletti, the senior program officer at the Allstate Foundation, told DNAinfo New York.
HUGE SHOUTOUT to SocialWorks and the 2.2 MILLION dollar investment they just made to 20 Chicago Public Schools!
Today we announced the grant recipients of the New Chance Fund. More than $2 million dollars will be invested in the Chicago Public School system, through 20 schools, and we plan to do more next year. #supportCPS Watch the announcement here!
